I don't think the TRPs are a result of the couples. Whether the couples are NeSam/ArDhika or SamArj/RaNeil, TRPs won't be great unless MMZ has a proper storyline. Romantic dramas never do well on the TRP chart- look at Tere Sheher Mein, which airs just before MMZ.

MMZ is not regular saas-bahu fare or a family drama, so it needs to pick the storyline up. The main problem for it in terms of TRPs is that it's a youth centric show.
