Aham Sharma : Kashmira Irani Is Phenomenal Not Just As An Actress But As A Person Also
The moonlight without a shadow, the body without a heart, this brooding angry young man, Arjun, with a painful past in Manmarziyan will make your heart melt. He has made many become his fan. The handsome, dashing, and intellectual actor, Aham Sharma is a pleasant surprise! Fuze spent some time to have a chilled out chat session with this intense and magnifying actor. Excerpts -
Aham Sharma as ArjunHow difficult or easy was it to get into the character of Arjun in Manmarziyan? Are you anything like him in real life?
Not exactly, but when an actor prepares for a role, a part of him goes into the character. It's an exception which helps you decide to do the characterization. I would say, certain mannerism or the way I'm portraying it might be a little bit of me, but no, mentally, psychologically, I would not say we are similar. But as I said, when an actor does a role a part of him goes into it. That's how to prepare and execute for a role.
Aham SharmaYou have passed out as an engineer from your college. How did acting happen to you?
I'd been working while studying. I realized that I won't be happy doing a 9 to 5 job. I was not very clear about what I exactly wanted to do while I was doing my schooling, but as a kid, as a teen, I was very much interested in sports. So I wanted to be a sportsman primarily, but that didn't happen when I reached the college. Since maybe somehow I wanted to do something else in life and not just doing a normal job, I did realize that I won't be satisfied doing a regular job. But I had to complete my studies and secure a job, which I did. And during my college days, I realized that I wanted to become an actor. But it took me sometime to make sure, that I'm cut out for it. I started watching films differently, I started reading a lot, I started to understand the graph while in college. People would tell me, that yeah, you should try acting. Then I started thinking about it and by the time I passed out of my college, I realized that I should give it a shot.
When I came to Mumbai, for my job, I started taking training simultaneously in acting and all. I auditioned for a few projects, out of which I was selected for a show, Chand Ke Paar Chalo on NDTV Imagine. Yami Guatam was opposite me and one more girl. It was a love triangle. Then another film happened and that's how things have been happening. I'm enjoying very much and I'm happy that I decided to pursue my dream. Now once I started acting, I started to understand the graph. I got more into it, deeper and deeper into it. I understood how beautiful this graph is, the industry is, the job is. I'm loving it.
Samira (Kashmira Irani) and Arjun (Aham Sharma)Audience is loving your character Arjun' s equation with Samaira onscreen. How is it working with Kashmira Irani as her love interest in the show?
Really good! Those who've watched the show, if you are watching out, I'm sure you'll sense that she's a phenomenal actress. She's a very good actress. And if you're able to do a scene perfectly, the audience will automatically believe what we do. And being her, a good actor and people say I'm pretty okay as an actor, we are able to bring the best out of the scenes. That's remarkable because that's how you showcase your chemistry and equation which is working well for the show and everyone.
She's phenomenal not just as an actress, but as a person also. A lot depend on these things - if you're able to strike a chord with your co-actor, if you're able to execute scenes and you're both on the same page while performing, it's going to be on a different level altogether. This is why, we hardly have shared many scenes since the initial episodes and since then, we hardly have a few scenes together. It's been hardly a month since we've been on air, still people are really loving our characters and our equation. I'm glad its happening this way...contd.

Aham Sharma as ArjunNot many know about the fact that you are married, tell us something about your wife?
I don't really talk much about it. People know I'm married. In-fact a couple of years ago, I was being interviewed by some other interviewers, I did tell them I'm married. Initially not many were keen on knowing that I was married or not. It's solely after Mahabharat where people took notice in me. So, yeah I've been married for quite some time.
Aham as Arjun from ManmarziyanIn Mahabharat, you played Karna and immediately after that, you are playing Arjun. Not many face this co-incidence in life to play Karna and Arjun back to back. What do you have to say about this?
I would say the similarity is right there, just because of the name. These two are different genres altogether. Mahabharat was epic and acting and execution was entirely different. I was playing a superhero, a character which is larger than life, respected by billions. It came with certain responsibilities.
Arjun in Manmarziyan is very contemporary and of today. They are poles apart in terms of characterization and the way I perform. Yes it's co-incidence, that its been Karn and Arjun, otherwise these two are poles apart.
I feel lucky and fortunate that I got to play Karna. If you ask any actor, they're fascinated by Karna. He's got such emotional depth. You've got a lot to show. I have to thank everyone, Star Plus and Swastik Productions (for Mahabharat).
And as Arjun on the other hand, its a different role. Even this role is satisfying. It's pretty rare on TV, where you get to play a character with many layers. A lot is going to come later on. As of now it's open completely to the audience about what Arjun is like. We haven't delved into his personal life, what he does when he goes home. There's a lot to come, as of now, but whatever they've shown so far, it's very mysterious and intriguing. There's a lot of layers around this guy. I'm enjoying that part. As an actor, you want to explore more. You want to show many layers...contd

Will we ever see you taking part in any dance reality show or something like Big Boss or Khatron Ke Khiladi?
I will think about it, once I have something like that. But frankly as of now, if I'm not confortable talking about my personal life, then I don't see myself comfortable doing so. I prefer to do a reality show which is performance and/or talent oriented. That sort of shows I'll be keen on.
