The new Star Plus show seems to be narrating the life story of every youngster, who is clueless about himself/herself
Manmarzian talk about our dreams, wishes and ambitions - since the promos clearly states that marriage is not on the agenda, we can gladly say that the show will not become a saas-bahu saga.
Story
Manmarzian is the story of Radhika (Monica Sehgal), who is still in search for her calling. After trying her hand at becoming a sales rep, beautician and shopkeeper, Radhika realises that none of them were her dream jobs. She aspires to be more than just someone's daughter, sister, wife or mother. The show is an interesting tale of how Radhika discovers that becoming a writer is what will finally help her to establish herself. Of course, conservative and the intrusive eye of the society don't help the situation. The rest of the story revolves around how she fulfils her dream and the things she does to be a writer.
The Good
The storyline of Manmarzian is similar to everyone and anyone who is still clueless about what they want to do in life. The first meeting of Radhika and Samaira's (Kashmira Irani) was interesting, where she assumes that Samaira was at her shop to buy a rope to commit suicide. The show has been shot beautifully capturing some beautiful locales keeping intone with the theme of the show. None of the sets on the show seem larger than life and over the top. Monica, who has her own show on YouTube, does a decent job in her debut show. Kashmira, who was last spotted in Amber Dhara and Seven seemed to fit right into the skin of her character Samaira. The title track of the show is nice and melodious - something that has the possibility of making a good caller tune. The show highlights a granddaughter-grandfather and father-daughter relationship very beautifully.
The Bad
Monica's blank expression at times can turn you off. Her male co-star Karan Khanna doesn't seem to be the right match opposite her, even though is acting is watchable - there seems no chemistry between the two. It's not easy to find your dream job so easily in life, it takes people years to crack that code and most discover it on the job. The 10:30pm time slot is a letdown, coz by then people are already heading to have dinner, while several call it a night.
Verdict
Manmarzian has an interesting concept and has the potential to become popular, but unlike most shows this one entirely depends on the content and not the actors.
