Barkha is excited

We catch up with the beautiful Barkha Bisht who looks gorgeous as ever in a beautiful saree.

The occasion is the launch of the unique dance reality show called Saas v/s Bahu , where she is pitted opposite her on-screen saas Mahru Shaikh. Taking out time for AT, she sounds all excited, "I am so happy to be a part of this show! I just love the dancing and the best thing is that the show will see even relatively older women performing on stage.

It will be fun and from what I have heard, people like Neelam Mehra are excellent dancers. So, the competition is going to be tough. I am practicing everyday but I still get butterflies in my stomach. But it's always been a pleasure to work with Sahara." Barkha's dad, who is in the army, was a little apprehensive about her decision to act; but her mother was "extremely supportive about it."

Barkha had worked in a call centre for four years as a voice trainer but says that "I always wanted to be an actress and was really fond of television serials." Her first serial was Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi and after that, she has been appreciated in Pyaar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam and Doli Saja Ke . She has also done cameos in serials like Kasauti Zindagi Ki and Kavyanjali , besides anchoring a show called Popcorn News .She feels, "Though I can play myself while anchoring, I certainly enjoy acting more."

In real life, she is happily married to co-star Indranil Sengupta and says, "I am blessed to have such a wonderful husband and extremely supportive in-laws. To a large extent, I am also a typical bahu who loves to cook and respects her in-laws. But I am also fun-loving and an extrovert to the core. And I can carry off both western and traditional wear extremely well. At home, I have two cute dogs which act as my stress-busters."

So how does she go about choosing her roles? "I have to like the story to say 'yes'. The channel and the production house are also important considerations as well. However, on TV, you can't be too choosy. But I am not really looking forward to films at this point," she says. What's the best compliment that she has received so far?

"A lot of people come up to me and say that I look much younger than what I am in real life. I think that's the best thing one can say about a woman. I have also been appreciated for my fit body, which feels really good," she says on a parting note.
