After dinner, I followed Raghu into the kitchen. Aunty was dealing with a moody Anjali so we were alone.

"Raghu, can... can I ask you something?" I asked.

He turned to face me and gave me a slight nod, indicating that I should continue.

"Uh, why didn't you, you know, sing the whole song?" I asked. "You are seriously one of the most nosiest people I've ever met," was his reply.

"Come on Raghu. We're friends now and I barely know anything about you. I mean, you didn't even tell me that you play the guitar, or sing, or write songs. You never told me any of that. And Anjali told me that you sang the whole song for her last night. Why do I only get to hear a little bit of it?" I questioned.

"Because I don't want you to misunderstand anything."

"What? What is that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing. I think you should probably go home."

"Why are you so difficult Raghu? I just asked you a question!"

"And I don't want to answer it. You really should go home now. It's pretty late."

"And what if I don't want to?"

Raghu turned to face me. "Why?"

"What if I want to stay here? With you?"

I took a step closer.

Antara. What are you saying? Why would you want to stay here?

"Antara. You really should go."

He didn't do anything to increase the distance between us so I took another step forward.

What are you doing Antara? Have you lost it?

Raghu sighed and took my hand and pulled me out of the kitchen and up to his room. He closed the door behind us and let go of my hand.

"Ow," I said, rubbing my wrist, letting him know I was hurt.

"Sorry," he muttered.

"It's okay. Why did you bring me up here?" I asked. "Well, I realised that you were right. We're friends and you don't know anything about me. So I thought we would talk for a bit, you know, get to know each other better."

I felt the corners of my mouth turn up. So he thought I was right.

"Come sit," he said, sitting down on his bed. I sat down next to him. "So what do you want to know about me?"

"Er, your favourite colour, I guess?" I said. I hadn't even thought of what I'd want to know about him, I just said it.

"Really?" he asked me while laughing. "That's what you want to know about me?"

"It's a good starting point," I said in my defense. "And you should laugh more often. You look good when you laugh."

He stopped laughing and looked at me. It was like his eyes were burning into me and I looked away.

"Well now you know one thing about me, that I look good when I laugh," he said. I let out a small laugh. "Yeah... well are you going to answer?"

"Red," he replied.

I smiled. "It's my favourite too."

We talked for a while longer and I didn't even realize when I fell asleep.

The next morning

I snuggled into my pillow not wanting to get when I realized that what my head was resting on was too hard to be a pillow.

I slowly opened my eyes, registering the unfamiliar surroundings. I realized that I was in Raghu's room.

What am I doing here?

I try to sit up but my necklace is stuck in something and pulls me back down. I try to take it out but in the process, I wake up Raghu.

"What are you doing?" he asks, his voice raspy. "My necklace..."

"Let me do it."

Slowly, he removes the necklace from his shirt and I sit up straight.

"I should leave," I say and get up only to be stopped.

"Wait," Raghu calls, holding onto my hand.

I turn to face him.

"I... uh I'll drop you off," he says, finally. "No it's fine. I have my car."

After that, I leave, not wanting to embarrass myself any further.
