Apart from the physical proximity and the lure of romance, the bed serves as a socioeconomic metaphor for equality. The serving classes can never imagine staying in the same room as their masters and certainly not sharing the same bed. This metaphorical awakening in Raghu will help breakdown his long held views of Shivani being his maalkin and he her honest servant. Sharing the same bed makes him her social equal and compatible to her. Hopefully Raghu would now start seeing Shivani as a woman who is just like him struggling in an alien city against adversities. He will see the woman in her finally and reach out to that woman and protect her with all the love that is there in his heart for her.
(Now whether the pillows come down at night is another matter...Shivani now knows Raghu is not married to Sumi...they are far away from the family...finally they are alone in the same room and on the same bed...the heat and dust in Mumbai may keep them awake...passions may stir...)
Aaahh thats so well said and I feel this is exactly how it will happen 👏👏 ... so far Raghu always believed they come from different worlds and she has not seen the poverty and all but now they r on equal footing struggling in a alien city together ... so now noone is up and down ... this is where I too feel he will start seeing her as a woman now and not his malkin and then all the hidden feelings that he always had for her will slowly come out in open 😳😳
and about pillows , it might not come down first night itself but yup I too feel none will sleep and will hv that first sense of awkwardness and alowly yup passion may stir 😳
