"Diya Aur Baati Hum" - which narrates the story of Sandhya and Sooraj -- will end on a sad note, according to a source aware of the developments. The makers are said to be considering showing lead pairDeepika Singh and Anas Rashidas dead in the end. This is one angle that is being looked at, the source added.

"Audiences may not be able to accept their favourite Sandhya and Sooraj dying at the end but then since there is a season two in the offing, there can be further developments," explained the insider.

In its fifth year of telecast, the show witnessed various ups and downs in the lives of its lead pair Sandhya and Sooraj. It is aired on Star Plus, and will go off air in September.

It is about a loving husband who helps his ambitious wife achieve her dreams of becoming an IPS officer.

Thanks for sharing Sutapasima. Since they are planning fro season 2, we can't expect a happy ending with Surya as they are not going to be part of next season. Since they want to keep Surya as the leads fro ever and not support system to the new generation, it would be better to accept this end than seeing them sidelined in the show to just to keep them alive. further they can't even show them as left for some other country (or shall we say Mars 😉 ) and go ahead with younger lot. O let us accept the reality. At least they are trying to show them die together while saving their city.

dee sorry to differ
why cant they introduce season 2 with adding a voice over that after suraj and sandhya's death,...
they can end season 1 with diya baati smiling together
which would be a fitting end to the love saga

Now cant even watch the last episode. I will keep Sandhya passing out of IPS academy as the last part of DABH. It is better that way, than to watch this heart breaking end.

@ thala, sorry if my comment hurt you dear. But for me Sandya is a dedicated IPS Officer and would love to see her giving her life to save her nation than see her giggle and hear she died in a bomb blast or accident or during some terrorist activity. They have already shown Suaj being her support system or helper during all her encounters starting with rajkumar as Suraj's assistant till Mission Mahabali. SO if he joins his hand with Sandya to save his city, I would love to see them breath their last after succeeding in saving their country than hear their success story.

Yes it is difficult to see them die but the concept is to show how dedicated they (our police officers) and how supportive their spouse is in performing their duty towards their own country and you may feel I am a sadist but I prefer to see them die and the new season will show the kids in the family had taken inspiration from them and have become dedicated professionals and citizens. They can show Ved either taking over his father or mother's profession and Pari as a doctor and Misri as an advocate or NGO who helps the needy.

The Diya aur Baati does extinguish and till the end they provide light to the surrounding. You can't expect an Akhanda diya always and that is what they are trying to show.

@jaya my problem is why death always glorified. Yes I know the officials die saving the country. Everyday we hear military officials, police personnel give their life in the line of duty.
But in a story couldn't they have given a happy ending. I mean why you need to die to inspire, cant you live and inspire.
Ramadi will know after reading my OS what I am telling. I am completely against glorifying death.
Yes CVs have murdered DABH story to such an extend that there is nothing more left to kill, but still when Sooraj does the mock interview of Sandhya, he asks what will you do for the country. Sandhya says she is willing to die for the country.
And Sooraj says when you die , the country is losing an able officer. Always look at life so that you can serve the country better.
Sooraj is life, he believed in life and at every point he would have walked with her as her defense so that they live, they serve more, they reach more. Death is the last contradiction for Sooraj's character. Diya and Baati spread the light, not only in family, but in society also. So far DABH has not shown a single progressive transformation in the family. What a sad state to end it.
And another thing. Why bomb blast always in hanuman Gali. It looks poor on Sandhya the officer. She has not learnt anything from experience.
Sorry for the rant. But I am so sad at the ending which is depriving me of watching even the last episode.

@ Shruthi, even I don't want the glorification of death but if they are to be dead in the sequel, I would love to see them have a heroic death while serving the nation than an announcement on their whereabouts. I would love it if the CVs are ready to show them OLD and yet inspiring the younger generation through their advises and by sharing their experiences but that is not going to happen here in DABH2. Here I am not saying this just because she is an officer and an officer has to die to show their patriotism. If we expect them to show other factors as per reality, (like husband wife relation, MIL & MIL relation, as a mother, as a father, as a an officer, as a citizen etc,) then why not their end.

But all I want is that they should not die due to some one else's conspiracy (department or political). Yes I don't want them to ruch and embrace the death (like Bhagath Singh who was fascinated to die for the nation) but if they get killed during some fight (mind you, not suicidal) I am fine with it.

@jaya I hope CVs satisfy the wish of the most optimistic person😆😆. I am surprised to know you share my views regarding Bhagat Singh. When this spoiler of Sooraj, Sandhya die in DABH the first person I thought about was Bhagat Singh

why do the want to deprive loyal viewers of 5 yrs of a happy ending, for a season 2. why cant the start season 2 afresh with new characters and new story. why the need for a season 2. and that too by ruining the end.
