while searching got this and thought to share with u all
Some one is asking the following to a IPS officer
Dear Sir,
I saw many IPS officers are using a variety of Caps and Berets, you're wearing P-Cap whereas Mr. ***** is wearing a Beret, is there any significance in that and did IPS officers will be provided with Pistols, if yes wats the Standard Pistol in which all the IPS officers are Using sir??
and his reply is

the uniform the IPS officers wear is governed by the IPS uniform rules.
the peak cap and the beret cap are the working dress. peak cap is
also worn during the ceremonial occasions.
it is the choice of the officer subject to the IPS rules.
and also got these lines in another article
As an alternative to the peak cap, officers may wear pagri of khaki silk or muslin or Beret cap of Navy blue colour. officers of the rank of D.I.G. and above will war a dark blue bank with the badge appropriate to their rank.
