I'd like to add one point here:-
There is a vast difference between being victim n responsible.
Majority of women who sacrificed their dreams n bear injustice for the sake of family n all -- They actually come under category victim..
When you're responsible as a person, it always empowers you as a human in all aspects. The women who tied down themselves their overall growth as a human also stopped.😕.
At least, This is what I've analyzed after studying life of many women who put efforts to achieve their dreams and who never raised their who don't fight for what's right.🥱.
I agree with Deebz Amma.. There is lots of change in younger generation males. They're quite supportive n open-minded n don't afraid to support their wives if they're career-oriented..
Ami I have to disagree with you on this point dear. Your ability to protest against a system depends on how much support you get from the husband. I know you will immediately pounce on me and ask why doesn't a woman stand up on her own why should she depend on support from anyone?
1. In India a woman puts her family before herself. If she rebels and husband does not support family breaks up as in extreme cases she can be thrown out.
2.The woman feels breakup of the family will be traumatic for the children so better bear everything and keep quite.
3.If she is not working, than the way our courts function it will take her years of fighting to get maintenance. The other issue is the custody of children.
4.Her own family may not support her move as there are younger sisters to be married off and in smaller towns if the girl comes back it is considered to be a disgrace.
5.So it is easier said than done. You have to have a lot of guts to rebel against the system and most Indian women atleast in smaller towns and villages would rather bear the humiliation than look at an uncertain future and walk out. That is the reason why even Sandhya is bearing everything by totally crushing her personality. Love for Suraj is no doubt one factor but the other factors also play out.
6.I agree with Deebz that a lot of change in attitude is seen in the younger generation but we still have a long way to go. The change is limited to cosmopolitan cities small towns and villages still follow a regressive setup similar to the Rathi family.
