Hi everyone,
This is an article from TOI that was published yesterday before the maha-episode went to air. Its a little late but I thought I'd share it anyway. Its interesting what Anas told the TOI people for this article - I guess they wanted to keep some suspense so he didn't reveal exactly what was going to happen. Smart idea!
Do you guys think they might actually have shot two poll result sequences? One with the public voting for Sooraj and then him being allowed to cook vegetarian food, which is the one we ended up seeing, and a second one where the poll result was in favour if Sooraj having to cook chicken? Then maybe they decided yesterday afternoon which sequence to actually air as part of the maha-episode based on the real life voting results? This way they had the blindfold part in either case - the way we saw it, and also if he had had to cook chicken without looking at it, so they wouldn't actually have had to shoot the blindfolded cooking bit twice - they would just have to include/not include a scene showing chicken on his bench. Don't know if this is what they really did, but why else would they really ask people to vote? Also, did you guys notice Brandon has had a hair cut (its shorter now than it was before - remember when he saved Bhabo from eating the chicken?) and in the poll results part his hair was short, but when they were cooking in the semi-final round it was longer again like it was before. That made me think that the poll result part was filmed more recently than the cooking. Not that it matters, but its really clever of the DABH people to let the audience decide which sequence they would incorporate in to the show. Sooraj was always going to make it into the final, but it was certainly interesting to see how it happened.

Sooraj goes blindfolded
Viewers of Shashi-Sumeet Mittal's 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' on Star Plus' should gear up to witness high dose of drama.
In tonight's maha episode Sooraj (Anas Rashid) will face one of the biggest challenges of his life.
Sooraj is currently competing with some of the best cooks, in an international cooking competition held in Singapore. He managed to reach the final round surpassing all his competitors however he will soon face one of the biggest hurdles of the competition. Sooraj who is a vegetarian will be asked to cook a non-vegetarian food.
But Sooraj will not lose hope and will come up with an innovative idea. Sooraj will cook his dish blind-folded during the final round of cooking competition in Singapore.
When contacted Anas Rashid said, "My character Sooraj is a pure vegetarian and when despite of repeated requests, the organizers refuse to give him a vegetarian dish to cook, he is forced to make a non-vegetarian dish. So he blindfolds himself and decides to cook without looking at the raw chicken,"
The sequence will be a part of one hour special maha-Episode and will be telecast tonight.
