I am amazed at this serial's USP-Girl good in studies but bad in household work. Not that i am condoning women to learn chula chakka-But today girls learn everything so not to be dependent on bais/kaamwalis etc..why could.nt sandy's mom have taught her minimal work -even if she becomes collecternai-sometimes she would have to cook/do house job atleast for kids-some minimal training would have been given.Even though my mom never enforced me i learnt cooking/ghar ka kaam so as to make myself independent of maids or to supervise them atleast you need to know a certain basic work.Wonder how sandy's parents overlooked this as is she is some princess who claps her hand and thousand servants would appear!!!! Again i am not demeaning her parents/her brains just that she should know basics of managing household just that you arent cheated by maids/cooks etc..

I agree that to know how to cook basic is essential not only to a girl but to a boy too. Also the fact of the matter is many do not attempt to learn fancy dishes or to put cylinder on when growing up. Those who have interest may but those who have not may not. Also I feel Sandy is doing the thing that is learn if only they do not put so much pressure on her each time she attempts. They treat her as if she is good for nothing if she knows no cooking, nobody is willingly to see that she is trying to learn cooking, she is putting her whole effort in it. If only they will be cool about it and relax and in turn allow her to be relax she will do wonders and learn quickly and even enjoy cooking.

When a person is put under so much pressure and sunao each and every time, the mental state of that person goes down and easy things also makes you worry and tensed and blunders happen. If Suraj and family would only guide her nicely and not make her look like a criminal each time she tries to do attempt cooking Sandy will just do fine.

Appreciate her efforts which will give her moral boost to learn more and also keep her in relax frame of mind. Nobody learns everything in a day they should remember that!!!

Although i agree that the CVs have portrayed Sandhya to be ignorant of kitchen matters to the point of being unrealistic...and I've been critical of Sandhya in the past about this deficiency in skills...I have softened up on her of late...maybe because she's been so iltreated ever since she got married.
Everyone raises their children differently...
Sandhya was the only girl...and the youngest...
She was never the typical lets have a tea party with my dolls...or let's play dress-up kind of girl
Her parents recognized that she was different...and when they saw that her real interest was in books...they encouraged her to study and nurtured her dreams...there's nothing wrong with that.
Like all parents...her's too wanted to eventually see their daughter happily married. I'm sure her mother would have taught her how to cook before she got married...but unfortunately, she didn't live to see that happen. Can we blame her parents for not anticipating their untimely death?...I don't think so.
Anyone can learn to cook eventually with a little guidance or even from a cookbook...it's not rocket science...just requires a little patience and practice. But what one cannot learn from a book are the invaluable principles and good character that Sandhya's parents instilled in her.
Now that she's with her Sasural..Bhabo should take her under her wing and teach her.
Sandhya has given Bhabo the darja of a mother...Bhabo needs to get off her high horse and accept this poor orphaned girl if not as a daughter...at least as a Bahu.

Agree with you...
In today's times, it is important for both a girl and a boy to learn at least basic cooking...

i cant cook an extravagant banquet. i can make maggi and omlet, maybe fry some bacon or salami or probably make a sandwich. back to the topic : sandy is in a horrible position and her MIL is a rude #!*@%. instead of being kind and teaching her DIL anything all she can do is taunt. too much double standards going on in that house. everyone is intimidated by sandy being a well educated girl, so what is different is treated with scorn and mistrust because the root is fear. the evil rathi's are afraid that sandy will take away all the power and the treat them like garbage and change all the rules. so they taunt her to death. in the movie taare zameen par amir khan said a wonderful story to the father of the bucktoothed boy, it goes like this : in a village (in africa i think) when a tree must be removed no one lifts an axe, the villagers encircle the tree and hurl abuses at it day and night and within days the tree withers and dies. this is sandy's story.

Actually if you look around you will see people who are so intellectual they have no sense of time , they cannot even make a cup of coffee or even tie their shoe laces.
Sandhya said to Suraj one time that her mother had said when she goes to sasural what will her saas will say that she doesnot know how to do things but can read books all the time ,something along those lines.
But look at yesterdays epi Suraj was telling the officer that Sandy taught him to be courageous and not to bribe. What did Bhabo teach him ???He had been bribing all these years.
My final question is to all those best cooks in the world or even the basic cooks and the best of housewifes do they have the courage to speak up against bribery or wrong doing against themseves or their neighborhood people who are strangers????OR THEY TAKE EASY WAY OUT.

Yep the way they are showing , that girls who are good in studies cannot cook..
When I was studying engineering , I never did anything in the kitchen , but when my mom went out of town , I could cook without any problem ..in fact my brothers were too , they could cook if there was a need ...cooking just comes to u by watching u r mom in the kitchen ..

What we all forget is that in Sandhya's case she is being a victim of severe domestic abuse esp by her mom-in-law in whom she is seeking a love of a mother and not getting any...
Dont you think Sandhya would know how to make an omlette -- I am sure for a girl who learnt an elaborate dish like Dal baati Choorma and Gathe ki Sabzi in one lesson can make dishes like pasta and omlete and sandwiches and soups etc...
It is not abt whether she knows cooking - her in-laws expect her to win a cooking competition which has elaborate menu and one has to start from installing a gas cylinder to remembering an elaborate recipe from memory without referring to a recipe book...
It is only a very bright person can excel in something like this overnight...
I want Suraj to bring out all of Bhabho's faulty behaviour with past examples and give all these instances that show her unfairness in front of every family member. This is the only way Suraj's character will be redeemed
Also I want Sandhya to loose her ice maiden demeanor and open up to Suraj and be honest abt her feelings for him - no matter if she feels love for him and has some reservations for whatever reasons
or
if she feels no love for him and then she needs to make a decision of whether it is fair for her to remain in the relationship or not...
Either way she needs to communicate to him and express all that she feels... bec rt now her character is complicated and inconsistent...
