Drikshit Drabble- Ours
“MRS SHERGILL” Shouted Rakshit on the top of his voice as the door to the guest room flew open.
“WHAT THE HECK MR SHERGILL. I might have been changing. Can’t you knock?” Drishti turned around shocked.
“Every second day I come here to take you back and you pay no heed to me. I’m losing it Mrs Shergill. Why are you doing this?”
“I need time.”
“It’s been 2 weeks already. Can’t you take time after coming back to our bedroom? It’s been long lavanyas chapter has been closed.”
“So? It’s not like you asked me when you opened the chapter.” She spat
“Drishti! Please.” He cupped her face
That was it. Drishti couldn’t take it anymore. She started crying.
“Kya hua hai Drishti?” He hugged her and cupped her face again
“It all seems wrong Mr Shergill. I’m not a woman who would hit on a man who betrayed me. I ate away my self respect for you. That marriage was fake, but you hadn’t told me that. I was so crazily jealous that I didn’t see anything. Now that Lavanya is gone, I can’t still get over the fact that you shared our room with another woman. I’m strong Mr Shergill but I have feelings too.” She said trying hard to control her tears.
“Nothings wrong Mrs Shergill. You were always my wife. Trust me. I was always yours in every phase of life. Maybe even before we met. You are very first person who could manage to distract this bedil Shergill.” He smiled
“No! Everytime I enter that room, it breaks me. I need time.”
“Drishti..”
“To a lot of people, we are divorced and I’m your ex wife. Staying in one room with you suddenly seems wrong. I’m not that kind of a woman.” She looked directly at him.
Rakshit hadn’t imagined he had hurt her till this extent. His eyes had started watering. He felt as if his world was slipping from his hands. He quickly went to their room and showed her the papers.
“Even if the marriage was true, it couldn’t be legal. I never signed the divorce agreement Mrs Shergill. To me, there is only one Mrs Shergill. You’re my wife and you belong with me.” He came closer to her.
“Why don’t you tell me things beforehand Mr Shergill?” She shot back at him
“I’m sorry I was distracted.”
“Right”
“I’m sorry”
“You made me feel unwanted Mr Shergill”
“Nooo! Don’t say that. You’re all I want.”
“I still need time.”
“Fine.”
Rakshit left the room silently to Drishti’s surprise to only be back in few minutes.
“See, you take how much every time you want to. Don’t come to that room. But I can come here right. I’m your legal husband. I won’t cross my limits. Let me just stay with you.” Rakshit said as he laid down on the other side of the bed.
After a long time, Drishti smiled. She couldn’t believe that her love had made Mr Bedil Shergill do such a sweet thing.
“You’re adjusting for me?”
“You’re the only one I would adjust for.” He smiled
“Goodnight Mrs Shergill.” He added with a loving smile.
“Goodnight Mr Shergill.” She smiled back.
