Streams of sweat ran down my forehead, while I feared my fate. As I flew across the room helplessly, I could feel the air which was full of disappointment and frustration beating heavily on my face; the textured wall with the portrait of my previous bearer- who appeared to look at me mockingly-became larger and larger, as I zoomed in on it, as a last attempt to save myself I covered my head with my hands, and closed my eyes. And there it was- the impact not only did it break the glass off the portrait scattering the shards across the room (for a moment it felt good to break her peaceful existence- revenge! Revenge my heart screamed in short-lived joy) but it also left me numb, thereafter I only recall bouncing off and the sound of metal rolling on the marbled floor as I rolled off under the bed, only to spin on myself a few times till I came crashing down. 'Ahh… that hurt!' After a while, I could hear angry voices as they screamed at each other and march off the room slamming the door in disgust. The door let out a loud sign of pain, alas the plight of the inanimate! As darkness engulfed the room, I could hear irregular sobbing echo off within the walls that confided me. These walls that were by now busy plugging their pores with their newly acquired ear-plugs(Lucky then, I can't be so lucky!) had borne enough of human misery but sadly their voices were never heard. 'Oh for the love of god, stop it, stop it!' they cried. And then there was silence, for days till I could bear it no longer. I began to feel suffocated, as the layers of dust kept on piling on top of me, I screamed help me! Someone please get me out of here! My plea for help got louder and louder help! Help!! I cried. My natural luster had all but faded. I recall the bright days; when I shone brightly and people admired my shine, it is no more!
I woke up with my own voices running wild inside my head almost akin to the horses running off into the wilderness when someone leaves open the corral. It was a bad dream! Phew! I let out a sigh of relief. It was the same recurring nightmare, the now famous flinging dream as it was referred to by my friends. As I turned my head, I saw my bearer sleep peacefully; her eyes were closed but the smeared kajal around her eyes clearly indicated she had been crying before she fell asleep. It was a cold night, the chilly breeze that came in through the open windows made me shiver slightly; I pulled up the velvet sheets under me and closed my eyes muttering as I turned, 'These mortals, they think we feel no pain!'
'Hello! You look slightly pale this morning! Don't tell me you saw the Flinging dream yet again!!' looking concerned, the stainless steel handle at the main entrance to Sanjeevani greeted me as we bumped into each other. Over the past few months, we had grown to become good friends.
I nodded, 'Yea, only this time it was longer! I just wish I could get rid of these dreams completely. See you later; I am heading straight to the General Ward today'
As I watched the child patient, given the same shots for the umpteenth time, I felt sorry, ever since I started coming here, he had been lying on the same bed and getting these shots everyday. The bed begs for something different, and Gappu is all he's got. Sensing the bed's plight, I remarked teasingly with a sarcastic smile on my face - 'Hey mate, sorry you still have to put up with him!'
He retorted quickly, 'How dare you point at me! What the hell are you still hanging there for? Don't you have any shame?'
All through the past week, I had heard hushed voices as they commented on my status. Finally someone had said it loud and clear and I was at a loss of words. 'You lowly steel!' I mumbled as we walked out of the General ward.
'He's right though' the stethoscope hanging off my bearer's neck winked as it slid into the pocket.
'Okay what am I still doing here woman?'
Hi friends, after watching the past few episodes and seeing how curious people were about the 'kada' I couldn't resist writing this. Seeing how we, the viewers want to know whether its still there or not! Thanks to DMG and its ever-spinning 'circle of love'.I hope you enjoyed it.This is post is simply an attempt at some light-hearted sarcasm at the DMG tracks.
