Bollywood's happening finally...
Yes, I've been shooting for my movie and have completed one big schedule. We have reached the last leg and only 10 days are left to wrap it up. I'm not allowed to divulge anything about it. The movie is slated to release in September. Bollywood took its time but I am glad that it's happening finally.
So are you going to stay away from fiction shows on TV? Why did you take up The Perfect Couple?
I will do fiction only if I am offered something like Dill Mill Gayye. I am not scared of over-exposure on TV, but the content has to be appealing. It's the concept of the reality show Perfect Couple that prompted me to take it up. It is a youth-oriented, adventure and a romance-based show. The show has also helped reunite an estranged couple.
Ironically, you have had a failed marriage in real life?
I too can learn from the contestants how to be a perfect partner to make a perfect couple.
What's your idea of a perfect partner?
I have f****** no clue man. I am yet to decipher it. But then I am not exhausting all my energies into it as that's not my primary purpose. I am focusing on just one thing that is to entertain people.
Do you support the idea of putting love under the scanner?
Personally, no. I am a private person, so I wouldn't like to participate in a show where I am required to prove my love. I can't let my personal things come in the public scanner. But then being a part of the entertainment industry, I can't escape it. Every move of an actor is followed and deciphered through a magnifying glass.
You have always been the controversy child, under the media scanner...
I feel both ' blessed and cursed. But I don't regret any of my decisions or deeds.
Whatever happened in your life, would you simply put it down as part of your destiny?
I understand destiny, but then you can't use it to cover up your errors. Every circumstance is a result of your actions ' good or bad. One has to be strong enough to face reality. It's part of your life and not your entire life.
Do you think somewhere down the line, you got carried away by all the fame?
No, I don't think so. As I said, life is all about moving on.
When the whole world was bashing you for betraying a wife back home (Shraddha), what did Karan do to lift himself?
I busied myself with acting and writing. The latter is a random habit and a novice attempt. I keep penning my thoughts. I am a fitness freak so I immersed myself in these passions of mine.
Do you believe in the institution of marriage?
It's an extremely special bond and needs to be done for the right reason. I am not against it as it's an important part of everyone's life. But then again, it doesn't summarise your life but is just a chapter.
Is it true that you have split with your choreographer girlfriend Nicole Alvares?
Yes, we parted ways amicably a few months ago. At times, some relationships just don't work. We don't have any bitterness for each other and are friends. I am at peace irrelevant of the presence or absence of somebody in my life. I am always at peace with myself. I wouldn't like to divulge the reason as its between two individuals.
Are you in touch with Shraddha Nigam?
It's been two years since we parted ways and I think we have matured now. We are at peace and there is no animosity or bad blood between us. It's not that we meet each other over coffee but we wish good for each other. To sum it up, it's a thing of the past now.
Are you scared of falling in love again?
Not at all. I love love (smiles).
