Hello Zainab,
Your post presents an interesting point of view about DMG and it's present track.
1) Armaan loses his memory, and does not remember his past two years. He will be suffering from post traumatic amnesia a condition whose severity depends on the impact of the accident and this where the creative liberty kicks in since it is a fictional show. I am a medical student as well but by no means an expert on head trauma. Balaji or no Balaji and Indian soaps or no Indian soaps such tracks of selective amnesia to further a character or a plot are very prevalent so we cannot hold DMG guilty on that account. (We are not holding DMG guilty on that account in any way whatsoever, rather we are thrilled to witness how the show will carry such a sensitive matter. The amount of knowledge you hold regarding amnesia, I am afraid DMG creatives do not even hold 0.3 amount of it. In the past, we have observed how DMG has made sheer comedy out of vital issues. A scenario that comes in mind is of a boy in DMG that suffered from diabetes but the next day, doctor Kirti was feeding him sugar filled ice - cream. I am no P.H.D yet but even a dim wit could realize that it's no way to cure diabetes. Another aspect that further highlights my point is that today's audience is not DUMB that can blindly believe anything that's thrown at their face like clown dances and accept it. Just look at the TRP. 😆)
2) I understand that memory loss will result in some rehash of the past but this time AR relationship stands on more solid footing. Riddhima unlike before is madly in love with Armaan, everyone else knows about them including Shashank'this changes a lot'for once we will get to see Riddhima pursuing Armaan'I think that makes for an interesting story line'the agony of looking at someone you love and them not recognizing you is indescribable'Riddhima going through that pain and trying to get love of her life back makes for a tremendous story line. (First, if the story is handled the way you describe it, then by God, it may be a good day in a long time. The issue we have from this storyline is that this is nothing NEW. CV and DMG worked throughout the initial months because it involved uniqueness, and I am sure this track has been used before in movies and soaps innumerable times. The conflict is that we don't want to see the process of their love blossoming again, but we want their track to progress further with marriage that brings up a whole fresh perspective. *SIGH* This show has not stayed true to its roots so even with just showcasing love and marriage, the faults are apparent. Since when did the show only become of love? I got hooked to the show only because it contained emotions of young aspiring doctors who experienced various phases of life. It was truly an ensemble.)
3) About the AR story track I think it has a lot of potential, the story was moving forward they were going to get married'love has different flavors initially DMG was fun because it involved Armaan courting Riddhima with his pranks and adorable behavior'.after a while Riddhima fell for him and they started discovering each other'another aspect of love'.now they were comfortable to share their love with the rest of the world and were heading towards the biggest commitment, marriage, yet another color of love'I think AR have successfully portrayed these characteristics of love irrespective of the actors/actresses portraying Armaan and Riddhima. AR relationship has evolved and so have the characters there is some maturity in Armaan and Riddhima and in fact I find the show heading towards more realistic portrayal of love rather than the dream world with a perfect boy falling in love with a perfect little girl. Armaan and Riddhima are both flawed and hence Armaan ends up with Amnesia' So I do not see the AR track as pointless in fact I see a promising track with a lot entertainment value. With that being said, DMG has its fair share of flaws like any other daily soap and could use a little tune up. (LOL, some maturity better be shown soon because we are friggin' tired of seeing docs doing jumping jacks around the hospital, rather than working. Life is definitely not about love, but it contains other aspects? Not many can recall the last time a serious case was brought into the hospital. I think you get my point here, no? Basically why is it all about love? Like little kids running around...I find no sort of maturity there.)
4) DMG now has AN, RM and AA...to sum it up a lot of characters and a lot of potential to move the story forward. I would hope that DMG once again wins you over. And I am sorry I guess all shows have a market and a niche audience but I cannot handle Balagi soaps who have reduced Indian women to sari clad dressed in 20 kg of gold manipulating relationships. I would rather take a Riddhima, Nikita, Muskaan and Angali any day over a Balagi feminine regressive characters. (DMG has also portrayed women in a negative fashion, be it when the time was of Riddhima not having a voice to win her love or recently Anjali being degraded in front of her man. Lets not forget that we are still viewing a Tellywood show here, LOL. RM did hook me on back to the show but now I look at them and only think that their talent is being wasted.)
And thanks for the song'.I heard it after a long time'.will add it to the ipod..
Sorry got carried away and typed an essay'my bad.
