Whereas swara's comments were involved, I see where she was coming from. Queen padmavati came from an era where women were told they were to sit in their homes and make babies, whilst it was the husbands who go out to war and defend the women folk. Women were told they couldn't defend themselves, so were never even taught the art of war, or at least, self-defense. Instead they were taught that when their men lost their lives in war, and so their men couldn't defend them, the most honorable thing to do was to kill themselves. So instead of being taught to fight to their deaths like their men, women instead had no choice but to end their own lives, then this tradition was glorified as an act of a woman's bravery and valor. If anything, this tradition of jauhar is only further evidence of the hardships and atrocities this male dominant society forced upon women in the name of tradition and religion. That's why I completely understood why swara felt that way. I disagree to the rajput community's glorification of jauhar as an act of female bravery, rather than realising jauhar is no more than just another orthodox tradition that gave women great pain.

This was a long comment😆But then again I feel very strongly about it, so I couldn't stop myself.

Interesting...i never saw her point of view this way..thank you 😊
Why i brought in that was..keeping of all my hatred towards teni's character aside..if u see...she is being shown in such a dirty way..first they glorified her because she had a womb that cud produce babies..and now she looks like a list ful fulling doll for a guy...I mean is that all women are for? 😕 I feel exactly wat swara felt while i see teni now...i dont want to use the word...but this is atrocious...ok fine you wanna glorify teni over everything do it..but this isnt the way...they destroyed that ambitious girl..who wanted to go to america for reasons she alone knows..but now i only see her as a baby producing machine and a lust fulfilling doll...the same goes to shorvari..their identity..their other roles in the life of a man..and his family is reduced to ashes...this is showing exploitation of both the women...and trust me..atleast during padmavati time queen were given respect and treated as humans...but here i dont think these makers are evn from this planet anymore 😡

I totally understand where you're coming from dear. I liked teni initially because she seemed like a girl with big dreams, then all that went down the drain after she was... like swara said... reduced to a V***** 🤢 Or in this case, a womb. I hate how in all these indian serials, widows and women who can't conceive are shown to be treated like worthless garbage who have no use or right to live by other characters. How are we meant to get society to change their views and treatment of women when women are shown in such a vile way. Poor shorvori. Now I get why sid left. He saw the changes that were coming to parth, and he didn't want to play a character like that.

Just going back to my previous comment on queen padmavati, but I feel that if there is any woman who needs to be celebrated and revered by indian men, then it is jhansi ki rani, lakshmi bai. I'm not indian, but know quite a bit of the history being a history buff, and that was a woman of bravery, valor and substance. What she did, taking the reins of her kingdom after her husband's demise, instead of bucking down under the pressure of the brit's, and starting a revolution against them for india's freedom, and facing the brits in combat despite being a women is incredibly inspiring. I don't see what is inspiring to the rajput community about a woman who had no choice but to commit suicide out of helplessness to save her dignity. What queen padmavati did was not bravery, but helplessness.
