The law has done what they can to punish Viraj and they granted Sia a divorce as well. The show is not sending a wrong message if the culprit himself ran away! Thats where the fictional part comes in and everyone needs to know the difference. Its just a show and they are doing their best to show a message against domestic violence, and to show that message there has to criminal activity done so that they can show actions against it to prove the message, no?
