Great episode tonight. Must watch. Gayatri stole the show, hands down.
I suppose that you've all heard the news.
To be honest, the possibility of a leap made it hard for me to enjoy the episode tonight. I can't convey in words how disappointed I am at the mere idea of a leap on this show and at this point when nothing has been explored nor developed properly, and we're still on a journey to understand the characters, to see the relationships evolve in their own needed time.
I won't speak for anyone else, but if a leap does take place -- I will, personally, not be able to sit through it. I love the show and its characters so much. Really. But I've been through the disappointment phase before when Raghav was sidelined, Sia's journey ignored, and we were given inconsistent, irrational episodes with nothing to look forward to but V's drama.
That took place for months and the only hope that kept me coming back was the prospect of Sia eventually overpowering V, her character's journey being explored in details, given justice, and Raghav/Sia relationship finally being explored as a complete package.
That will not be possible with a leap since large portions of what I watch the show for will be skipped and I cannot face this kind of disappointment again. I'm waiting to see if the leap will be confirmed, and then I'll make my own decision. At this point, I'm not sure if a plea to the writers to not go through with the leap would help much. We'll see what happens.
I will try to keep focus throughout the feedback. Forgive me if my thoughts scatter. I'm not only distracted due to the leap news, but I'm also unwell tonight. Thus I might not be able to do justice to the episode aired.
>> Pros:
Well-balanced episode once again. Flow/screenplay and dialogues were flawless.
1) Raghav/Sia cannot reach any of the people on their phone list
What I liked about this scene was R/S teamwork, how quick and smooth they were. Yeah, the frustration/impatience and desperation was tangible, but it didn't stop them from doing their work smoothly, forcing calm as they went through the numbers. Something else that I liked was the way that they were seated in the scene as it was refreshing from how they always stance tensely when working through a problem.
Another detail worth mentioning is how Raghav didn't use his real name when he got hold of Malhotra. That was clever on his part.
2) Sia calls Mr. Malhotra while he's at their house and asks him to meet her
For one thing, I'm relieved that they didn't show Raghav/Sia head downstairs as I believe they'd have shown in another drama to create suspense. Instead they showed them head back to their room and quickly figure out a way to get in touch with Malhotra.
First, Sia asking Malhotra repeatedly to not react was something that I would've done to -- and emphasized on it just to make sure that he got the message. Next, meeting her in the bathroom was a brilliant suggestion and one that I'm glad that he agreed to -- though he'd looked very confused about it, understandably.
The shot of Raghav grabbing his arm and pulling him into the room cracked me up.
3) Raghav watches the hallway while Sia explains everything to Mr. Malhotra
Sia did a fantastic job explaining everything necessary for him to know in order to aid both of them. She was quick and to the point, reminding him [cleverly] of what kind of man V is and how he treats people. She appealed to his wounded emotions, which made him recall every time V treated him like crap and also made him sympathize with Sia.
I liked how Malhotra was willing to listen and understand. He's such a simple man and the fact that he has gotten involved with a terrible boss like V makes me feel bad for him. I do hope that, at some point, he'll find out what happened to his daughter and get justice for it because, as Sia said, V must be punished for his deeds. Not just those that involved her.
I'd like to praise the actor who portrays Malhotra as he's always done a fabulous job.
4) Mr. Malhotra aids Jahnvi in front of V and the other witnesses join in
To be honest, I didn't think that he would. He's always been so afraid of V. But I'm just so relieved that he did aid Sia. For one thing, it presents the message that not all good men are so terrified of evil that they surrender again and again, stay loyal to the Devil without listening to their own conscience. Malhotra risked his own exposure tonight for Sia and I hope that he'll be rewarded for his bravery rather than punished.
Do note how Malhotra tackled the situation though. He angled it so that it seemed like he had mistaken Sia for Jahnvi rather than him bluntly denying that it was Jahnvi. It was, in fact, clever. Because he can claim, in front of V, that he really does believe that Sia is his "jaan's" humshakal rather than Jahnvi herself.
He might've saved his own skin too. Still. Brave little man.
What I loved was how the other witnesses joined in, starting to doubt themselves. It was a sharp observation from their side that Jahnvi was always scared and reserved -- I'd hoped that maybe it'd ring a bell in Gayatri's head and warn her that V isn't a good man.
5) Sia's mocking apology to V for being insensitive about his wife's death
Fantastic performance from Sriti in this shot. I loved how she mocked him, apologizing for having been insensitive about his wife. She really sold it. Brilliant. Clever. And plus it just added that final kick that convinced Gayatri that she wasn't Jahnvi and it made V look like a grieving husband who was going insane due to his wife's humshakal being around him.
Which, in a funny way, is true.
6) V becomes desperate
It was a treat to watch a desperate V almost pleading with Gayatri to believe him. Truly, I have never seen V look so small than when he whined and complained to Gayatri about people playing games with -- hypocrisy at its finest since V is the biggest player in every single game on the show. In fact, he's always initiating the games and then whines like a sore loser when the odds aren't in his favor.
Grow up.
What shocked me was when he said that he knew every beauty spot on Sia's body. That just infuriated me. The man has no shame. He'd expose his wife to anyone just to gain for himself. I wouldn't have been surprised if he's started pulling her clothes off just to prove his disgusting point. My God, what a creep.
Sia's reaction made me feel even worse for her. That was just humiliating.
7) Gayatri slaps V and tells him to get out
I frigging love this woman, I swear.
When she slapped him, I wanted to sing her praises. That slap was a long time coming. I just loved the sound of it and V's shocked reaction. Finally someone slapped him in front of everyone. For one thing, I'm sure that if she hadn't slapped him, Raghav would've just pounced on him, started beating the crap out of him, because the beauty spot comment had his hands fisting and he was two seconds from slamming them against V's face.
Luckily, Gayatri beat him to it.
What mindblowing dialogues she had in the wake of that lovely slap. The actress just did a fantastic job. She was fierce. Her eyes were lit with rage, her expression was disgusted beyond words, and her voice was loud and clear enough to make even the bravest tiger cower into a corner. Even Raghav looked proud of his mother.
There was so much power in her just then. She, like Raghav, is a match for V and a very overpowering one. V can't handle direct confrontations. He's backstabber and coward, in the end. I loved how she yelled at him that a man who can't respect women has no place in her home, and she asked him to get out. Though I was a bit disappointed that she took it back and allowed him to stay anyway. That took the air out of her dialogue.
Kher. I'm just glad that the writers added the detail about V creeping outside Sia's room.
8) Raghav pulls Sia to his other side and stands b/w her and V
This shot deserved a section of its own. I loved how Raghav pulled Sia to his other side when V got too close to her. It was done smoothly, surely, protectively, and Sia actually looked proud.
9) Raghav/Sia shared smirks at V's failing plan
Fantastic. Loved it. Loved how they both smirked when he got desperate, when Malhotra refused to say that it was Jahnvi but kept insisting that Jahnvi was dead.
>> Cons:
Was a bit disappointed in some of the camera angles as they didn't seem very focused. I only liked how Gayatri's expressions were captured during the slap.
1) Sound turned off twice while characters were speaking
I noticed it twice. First, when Raghav/Sia returned to their room and Raghav spoke -- the sound wasn't on. And second time in the bathroom when Sia pleaded with Malhotra to aid her. This is nitpicking, but still. It was a bit annoying.
2) Don't forget Krish
Please don't. We all miss him.
That's it for tonight, peeps. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow night and manage to make up for two poorly written feedbacks in a row. Forgive me.
