To embed the video, this is what needs to be done. I'm including spaces b/w the YOUTUBE tags and it to make it obvious

In short, whenever you see the first & sign after the v=..., start cutting it off. The YOUTUBE tag only works whne it's just the file name, not when the viewer settings and other things, such as &feature or whatever is included. If you had something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js0kfarBUlY&feature=... within the tags, it wouldn't have worked.

Anyway, today no reruns of any of the serials - whole day will be the Azaadi programs.

Uh, nobody watched this? It was a great show. I watched the Mangal Pandey & Rani Lakshmibai (KVB & Mouni segments).

One thing I thought was strange - all the sepoys were wearing boots, but Mangal Pandey was barefoot. Yet, they were all in the dance, and then there was the shot of Mangal Pandey pushing the cannon w/ his chest. But they didn't show the mutiny, where he raised his musket and actually shot 2 officers - which was the reason he was court martialed and hanged. And no, they didn't show his hanging.

In the Rani Lakshmibai segment that followed, they showed her rock a cradle, which again seemed ahistorical. Originally, Rani Lakshmibai's baby died a few days after it was born, and her husband became pretty ill as a result - probably depression. They adopted a toddler kid who would be their adopted son and his successor to the throne, w/ Lakshmibai as the regent. So showing her rocking a cradle and doing the 'buri nazar' gesture seemed inaccurate. (The Brit refusal to recognize that adoption was the sole reason for her going to war against them) The fighting also seemed unreal, w/ her acrobatics, and also, her death wasn't shown either.

Those were the only 2 segments I watched. While Mangal Pandey's hanging would have been difficult to show, Rani Lakshmibai being shot wouldn't have been. I'm curious about why they left it out.

I just watched it and it was a brilliant performance! It was really nice to see KVB opening the ceremony. I was immensely touched by his performance. It was absolutely great, it really was.

A side note, anyone noticed the end of his mustache slightly turned upside down during one part? People who have watched his performance might know what I'm talking about. That distracted me for a second. 😆 Anyway, KVB fixed it.

But it was a wonderful performance. Loved his Mangal Pandey act! :)
