Neil Bhatt and Mishal Bhatt were two who were reported as having been approached. We can presume they turned it down and the role went to a dude named Anuj Sachdeva, who people don't have good things to say about his last acting gig. But we're hoping they chose well since all the others fit and are good.

He's a good actor. I just hope the lead is also a good actor.

The women are not married. It's explained in the beginning that they wear the mangalsutra and bindis, but are not married. Some in the tribe are. Those that are don't work as prostitutes. Notice that in the girl's family the uncles have wives.
