Southern Industries have some of the best directors, cinematographers, etc. No lie. That's pretty much an acknowledge thing.

Many Southern film picturisations beat Bollywood by miles. No lie. And not an exaggeration.

Chitra... I watched this vid. And I feel horrible that I can't watch the film.. but I can't... Because I heard the bit of the actress' dialogue in another vid of that same song. OMG...So cringe worthy...

@ Lik

The best thing the PH has did was change the lead after 2-3 episodes before the audience start to get attached. Deepa Parab was a darling for the channel and she can act so the audience had no issues accepting her as Jai.

Reth was a great show not slow and saas bhau either. The family had there issues in the beginning cause the DIL of the house was gang rape. Jia even got pregnant later but due to family and outside talk the husband Shekar thought it may not be his but one of the rapers. The show was really good Shekar was a reporter and it really due to a story he did and for revenge his wife was rape.

Kamya Punjabi was later also part of the show her character name was Nethra. I think she was actress that was interviewed by Shekar and she fell for him and they had an affair. Kamya character did the same thing in Astitiva ek Prem Kahani, have an affair with the husband. Gosh Kamya is always playing these character of sleeping with others husbands.

Thanks, Rani. So Diwakar Pundir wasn't the husband...

Yeah, from what I read on wiki, it seemed as if it would be a good show. LOL at Kamya Punjabi. 😆 🤣

They changed both male and female leads? Cause the Wiki shows two actors for Shekar as well.

Oh yes I forgot they also changed the Shekar. I like Ankur Nayyar from seeing him in one of Ekta shows 😆 so when he got in the show forgot there was another actor before him. I think Jia and Shekar were divorced and maybe she was going to married Diwakar Pundir or did not sure gosh is been so long but all I know in the end it was Jia & Shekar.

Kamya Punjabi 🤣 🤣gosh her characters are mess and Nethra even pretended to be pregnant to hold on to Shekar.

Nethra & Uttara even the name almost the same 🤣

Zee used to have some shows like Astitiva were the woman marries a man 10 years her junior very ground breaking. I still couldn't understand if people didn't have an issue with subject then I wonder why media had the issue with Gulaal and that's why the show didn't work. Too confusing

Gulaal - The city, urban people had a problem with the the "bhabhi" and the "devar." IMO, forgetting that that relationship is often the subject of many flirtatious, teasing village songs--and even more that it was (is) very common for such marriages to take place.

Well that and Star Plus never promoted the show correctly.

Rani don't forget Hasratein. Weird thing the television industry. Higher production values and all, but instead of progressing, it's regressed.

But in a somewhat odd way, I think it's because the city and urban areas were even more modern than in the 90s, that the idea of devar/bhabhi was difficult to swallow.

I mean it's not like novels and films hadn't been made on it before...

Lik & Chitra, what you say about the S.Indian film industry is so true...same goes for the music in those movies...The songs & scores have a dimension to them you don't find in the Hindi film industry. In fact, my dad almost exclusively listens to music from Telegu, Tamil, & Kannada films (he is not fluent in Telegu, but says it does not matter...). I mean he'll go online & research the songs & add them to his iPod & Mac...I must say ths songs resonate continually, & language holds no bar!

ETA: Chitra, there's a Tamil version of the promo too. It's simultaneously being shot in Tami, Telugu (and I hear Hindi as well). But I like this video better because of the male actor and I like this tune better. 😆 The actress is the same in all versions.
