Part of me thinks it's a deliberate attempt to reinforce the formality (and distance) in their relationship... and once they both fall in love and the romance starts, it will no longer be used.

Yeah. It's a tried and true method. :) I would think Kastur is planning on dropping it once they're married. But soon, she'll find out the truth...thus 'Mohanji' remains.

I still would rather her call him Mohan despite it all, because while traditionally both males and females addressed each other as 'ji' or ___ ki papa/amma

We almost always only see the females addressing formally. But that's how it rolls these days, I guess.

i just hp dat after MOHAN falls in luv wid kastur, she cuts dat ji.

it is damn annoying 2 hear a ji stuck 2 ur butiful name always. nd by d way our MOHAN respects her, soo he might ask her 2 b free enough wid him nd call him MOHAN only.

By d way kitna acha hota agar kastur MOHAN ko MONU bulati 😍😍!!!

@pyar-ishq: I don't want them to wait until they fall in love either! Like you said, Mohan is the only one who could put a stop to it i guess.

@likarsh: Is it a tried and tested method? It's a possibility that might be the reason then. The men rule the Galla household so the point you've made about only females addressing formally will most likely be in place there too...

Let's hope Mohan does the needful! 😆

Oh, yeah. I haven't even watched that many serials, but I've seen many with the girls addressing the guy formally, and then have the moment where the name is said is a big breakthrough moment.

I think Saroj calls Bhanu by his name. Narmada probably calls Vipul by his name as well, since they seem to be in a pretty equal relationship.

I mean don't get me wrong. The last thing I want to hear is 'Kasturjee' to go along with 'Mohanjee' throughout the show. But it's bothersome that a lot of the couples I've seen always have the females in the position of formally addressing, while the male doesn't.

In this case though, I get it since Mohan knew Kastur while he was a kid (plot holes not withstanding). And she's younger. So he wouldn't recipocrate the 'ji'. Plus he's just not the type. 😆

Like Rani says, I hope Mohan tells her to drop the suffix.

(Interestingly enough, I don't think Khanak ever called Shaan formally in Rang Badalti, just Shaantanu. And she was a Gujarati village girl.)

Did you watch RBO? I'm a huge Shanak fan!

Not sure if you know, but the dialogue writers for this show are the same as the ones that used to write for RBO during it's earlier days. If you notice, Khanak's the only one who calls him Shantanu whilst the others call him Shaan, it's like an exclusivity/significant thing in the way in which she addresses him.

That's one of the reasons why i thought the dialogue writers were experimenting with the 'ji' behind Mohan's name... to make it a significant thing too once Kastur eventually drops it...

Still hope they go with Mohan telling her not to use it though! 😆

Sorry, yaar. I went to sleep after I made that post. But yeah I watched it, but after it started airing. So I had read the summary, descriptions and watched the episodes online in a big marathon. But I stopped watching, and don't watch it anymore.

And ohh, the dialogue writers are the same. I didn't know that. How early. Because I remember Shaan had some good one liners, and especially a few once Khanak slept in his room because of her family's visit.

So now I have even more expectations from Mohan's one liners after marriage.😆

But Shantanu is different. It's more of a right thing that he allows her. But at the same time, he did say to call her Shaan as she has now become close to him and they all call him Shaan. She of course refused. 😃

@bold: It was during the first 7 months (RBO's best days) so they were the writers during the track that you mentioned.

Lol i have every faith Mohan's one-liners will be back... the bechara's pareshaan at the moment hence the lack of them.

Once they're married and Kastur is living with him, i'm sure we'll get plenty! 😃

OMG I also watched RBO and I felt there was something familiar about DP writing but didn't know it was cause it was same writes from RBO 😆 RBO beginning days were awesome I stopped following when the music track started. I also liked that Khanak called him Shantanu and he didn't like and wanted her to call him Shaan 😆

Kastur need to say Mohan full name then and drop the Ji. BTW what is Mohan full name. I know his uncle said he what he was named after but don't remember 😕
