DV Story = Benhur = 10 Commandments

Whatever DV I have seen so far, I could figure out from where Sagars are getting the inspiration..😃 or lifting or copying the plot as it is.. 😆😆

DV Story is the perfect combination from 2 Hollywood Classics..

1) Benhur (1959)

2) 10 Commandments (1956)

I have seen these films in my childhood, I was very small then, so I don't remember many details.. Both the films are the depiction from Bible.

So if anyone from I F get to see these 2 films now, then please add more details of the similarities from DV story. 😃

Benhur = Won 11 Oscars. Another 17 wins & 5 nominations

Plot = "When a Jewish prince is betrayed and sent into slavery by a Roman friend, he regains his freedom and comes back for revenge."

Benhur = DV

OK.. from Benhur they took the story of 2 close friends, one is Royal Prince and another one is ordinary citizen of Roman Empire. Here also Veer's character has mother and sister. When these friends developed enmity in later period of their life, Royal Prince throws his friend's mother and sister into jail. (Niviriti doing that in DV)

In this film, Dharam's character is out an out Villain. He also makes Veer's character, who was his friend, slave (shramik)... when this slave regains his freedom he gets adopted by another king and thus he holds his own kingdom..

in the end Dharam's character dies.

10 Commandments = DV

This is the story of kid born in Jew Slave Family but raised by Roman Queen, after growing up as a Prince, he came to know the truth of his birth, and goes back to his original people to save them from slavery. Thus he becomes the Messiah.

Veer's birth scene was a ditto ditto copy from this film. Here also Nivi's character tries hard to hide the truth but in the end Moses does desert her.

I hope Sagars won't follow these 2 films for the climax of the DV. I am sure no one on this forum would like to see such end to DV story.

Sagars should be applauded for this.. 👏 👏


Having said all that, I must appreciate Sagars creative genius.. they have blended concept from these 2 films quite beautifully. They have added many different tracks in the story. Like Sia-Shera's tracks are completely unique. Plus we get to see many many, lighter moments in DV. Love and trust shared by DharamVeer was different from 2 heroes of Hollywood films.

One thing is clear, DV's theme line "Do tan hai par ek hee jaan hai, yaar ke khatir jaan kurban hai" is completely opposite of what these 2 films are all about. So I am hopeful that Sagars would stick to their creative story line. 😃

I guess Prince of Egypt and 10 commandments are the similar stories.
