IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN YOU
(Abhay-Dipika from Dhadkan Zindagi ki )
It has been 5 months since Abhay losthis only family, his mother. He never thought he could find a solace in anyother lap except his mother's, but it was changed in no time. He didn't realisehow Dipika's support had changed him from a hard muscular figure to a softloving man. Abhay,now, knew what his heart longed for. He wanted to be withDipika for the rest of his life but the thought of her not reciprocating thesame feeling for him always made him back out from proposing her.
Another hectic day in FMS hospital. As usual Abhay andDipika were handling a case together. It was a suicidal case. Even thou Jamsheddidn't want any kind of controversies in the hospital, the same kept onknocking his door!
Scene 1(AbhDeep with the patient):
“Umm....I hope you are feeling alright?” asked Dipika,checking the reports.
“ye...yes doctor.” stumbled the patient.
“If you don’t mind, kya main ek sawaal puch sakta hun?”asked Abhay. Although hesitating to interfere in the personal matters of apatient ,but he couldn't control it. He was not simply a doctor. He knew makingsomeone feel comfortable to achieve a higher rate of improvement than simplyincreasing the power of the tablets.
“haan...”
“Abhay.....no" signalled Dipika. In these 5 monthsthey had turned such good friends that they knew what the other person is aboutto do. They shared a deep bond of friendship which made most of the unspokenwords audible.
“Dipi....Dr Sinha I know mujhe patient ko unke personalmatters ke baare me puchne ka koi haqnahi hai. But as a doctor patient ki maddad karna mera duty hai.”
“Abhay I know ke tum Sweta ki maddad karna chahte ho butpatient ke emotional issues ko deal karna tumhara kaam nahi hai. Woh councillorka kaam hai. And if its required hum kisi ko consult karlenge. Tum please insab par mat pado,aise crucial topics ko mat chedho.”
“Dekhiye ap dono aise mat jhagdiye. Apko jo puchna hai ap puch sakte hai.” Said Sweta.
“Thanks Sweta! Sweta aisa kya hua jo tumne yeh kadamuthaya?”asked Abhay with a mark of concern in his eyebrows clearly visible.Dipika was furious. She didn't find Abhay wrong but she didn't want the patientto go back to depression.
“Dr Sathe please....Sweta and uske family bata chuke haike woh ek hadsa tha. So please...kya ap yeh sawaal karna band karenge?”
“Batao Sweta.” Said Abhay. He was not listening toDipika. How could he? He was not a doctor who would prescribe medicines andignore the emotions of his patients.
“Woh....Woh...doctor maine and Swaswat ne kuch mahinepehle breakup kiya. Kyunki who nahi chahta tha ke main shaadi ke baad jobkarun.....”
“phir?”
“phir Swaswat mujhe 1 mahine pehle mila. Usne mujhe dokhadiya ke who mujhe abbhi pyaar karta hai and mujhse shaadi karna chahta hai. Buthamari shaadi ke din....uski wife...Swaswaat mandap se uthkar chala gaya aurmere dad ko inka 1st heart stroke hogaya. Family ke tension andsociety ke taane sunne ki ab mujhme himmat nahi.” Said Sweta. She burst intotears while trying to speak the sentences.
“I am so sorry Sweta....” said Abhay. He looked towardsDipika and was about to leave but he saw Dipika had slipped into a short coma.She was just looking at Sweta.
“Dr Sinha?...” called Abhay but he got no response fromDipika. “Dr Sinha?” this time he called her name loudly enough to get hersenses back.
“A...ji Dr Sathe..”
“Chalein?”
“Ji...”
Scene 2 (AbhDeep outside the patient’s room)
“Mujhe samjh nahi ata...yeh mard apne apko kya samjhtehai. You...you know what Abhay hum 21st century me aakar bhi abbhiek male chauvinist society me jee rahe hai. Jo sab Sweta ke saath hua am sureutne hi taunts Swaswat ko nahi mile honge” said Dipika. She was always disgusted whenever she heardsomething women-dominating.
“Baat toh sahi hai apki ....But kya kabhi tumne yeh sochahai ke galati auraton ki hai?”
“Aurat ki galati? You...you mean Sweta is wrong?”
“Yes. Hum hamesha yahi sochte hai ke galati kisi 1 kihoti hai but that’s not the truth. Agar society auraton ke haq cheenne kikoshish karti hai toh kya auraatein back-fire karti hai? Nahi karti hai. Wohbas isi hopes me rehti hai ke ek din hum apna sapna pura karlenge.Dipika...auraton ne sapna dekhna seekha hai, apne sapno ko share karke batanaseekha but kisine unn sapno ke liye ladna abhi tak nahi seekha hai.”
“I guess you are right...”
“Dipika, I don't know ke mujhe yeh bolna chahiye ya nahibut I think tum bhi apne goal se mukar rahi ho. Vikrant Saxena tumhe kahin kanahi chodhega, I tell you. So please ise ek friend a suggestion mano ya ekdushman ki warning, but please stay away from him”concluded Abhay and wentaway.
Dipika stood surprised. It was not the first time Abhaycomplained about Vikrant. He always suspected Vikrant's actions and usuallykept on warning Dipika regarding this fishy man. But today, the different thinghe had done was that he compared her with a weaker woman in her eyes. She wasexpecting her colleagues to treat her as a good and strong woman, but today shewas being compared with a woman who couldn’t fight the world and wanted to finish her own self. According to Dipika, suicide was like running away.Running away from a truth you don’t wish to confront. But was she turning tooweak that she always wanted Vikrant's arm to support her?
