vaarali its not just about dress and costume. u know very well how much of hypothetical tracks cv's bring in.
then dress is just a small thing.
and the kind of dress mahalsa and banai are wearing is very common i all coastal areas of coastal karnataka and maharashtra as well.
but that was not my point.
martand mahalsa and banai are very widely worshipped all over maharashtra. there are several huge temples dedicated to them. and many people there have them as their home deities.
anyways this was not my point either.
i wanted to say that the story is very beautifully depicted and it immediately reminds me of mahalsapati the famous priest of shirdi khandoba temple.

Rishi-
My question was really sincere. I had no idea about Khandoba / Martand being worshiped in Maharashtra. This story is new to me.

I missed the first few episodes of this story and have been catching up only since yesterday. The dress and the makeup intrigued me. The chief priest (who keeps rolling the shells) is dressed exactly like a Namboodri brahmin and the nose studs on both sides of the nose (worn by Mai) are typical of South India, too. But I was fairly certain that this story is not from any South Indian folk tale- since we are unfamiliar with this form of Shiva.

Hence my question. Didn't mean to be critical.

hey i know ur question was sincere. no offense meant😃
yes i guess they may have goofed up with the costume.
and even as it is shiva in is worshipped all over india in various different forms.
so as meenakshi di has said above he's worshipped in other forms in karnataka and AP too.
esp i have heard abt mailari which she has mentioned. but here in karnataka shiva is more popularly worshipped in mallikarjuna and manjunatha forms.

Rishi, even I know about Malhari Martand as Khandoba, worshipped in Maharashtra.
This above wiki link is a curious search courtesy their costume. 😊
