Thanks for the update - how did you watch it? Among Vishnu's avatars, Parashurama was a bloodthirsty Brahmin, and now Rama is the very embodiment of ahimsa? What a crock!!!

I remember that in the Imagine Ramayan, there were controversial arguments on whether or not Rama was a non-vegetarian, so won't go there. But the idea that Rama would first be missing his targets, and then initially refrain from killing things - where did that come from? Rama was very much into hunting - when Sita wanted the golden deer, Rama happily went after it, not knowing that it was Mareech. He planned to either capture it alive and let it adorn Sita's garden, or kill it, and let its skin be a rug for the royal family. Or in this serial, they could have him donate it to Mahadev as a change of clothes for whenever his regular wear is out for laundry 😆

The stuff they got right was saying that all brothers were Vishnu's avatars, but then, saying that Bharat was the conch or Shatrughan was the discus - again into the fringe texts.

So Tardka is an environmental tree-hugger here? That's okay, since I have a good disdain for that sort 😆 In those days, most of the country was forested, so clearing up forests didn't do much damage. As it is, nature tends to adjust those things over time, so Tardka's advocacy didn't really make sense. As does little else in this serial.

DBSK is Dwarkadheesh - Bhagwan Shri Krishn. A serial on Imagine TV, which was originally billed t show Krishna's adult life - his marriage to Rukmini, and going all the way up to the Geeta and the war w/ Duryodhan. But after the killing of Bakasura by Bhima, the serial became fiction, mainly dragging in fictitious tracks involving Sudama, Paundrak & Pradhyumna, as well as importing fictitious characters and making Krishna's activities revolve around them
