OK, so do you remember one episode where Parvati puts her hands n Mahadev's eyes, and his third eye comes out? THAT should have been when they showed Andhakasura. WHen Parvati closed his eyes, Mahadev opened his third eye. Due to the heat generated, his sweat drops fell on the ground. And since Mahadev's normal eyes were closed, the sweat drops became a blind child. Parvati brought him up as her own son.
And now... HIranyaksha, the demon killed by Lord Varaha... This comes before his death ok?
So HIranyaksha prayed to Mahadev and asked him for a son. Mahadev promptly took Andhaka and gave it to HIranyaksha.
When both Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu died, Prahlada's other brothers (Anuhlada, Samhlada and Hlada) teased A-ndhaka about his blindness. So Prahlada -told him to worship -L-o-rd -Brahma and ask him for boon. So Andhaka started Tapasya. In the meantime, Prahlada's brothers died in some Devasura war and Prahlada got Moksha, and his son Virochana was not yet king. So Lord Brahma appeared and restored Andhaka's sight. Andhaka asked him the boon of being killed ONLY if he lusted his mom. Brahma said, "Okay" and disappeared as usual.

Now Andhaka became very powerful and defeated the devas (once again, as usual) and decided to conquer Kailash. There he saw Parvati (his mom) and wanted to marry her. She said no.
Andhaka got furious and atacked Kailash. At that time Lord SHiva had gone somewhere (I think to fulfil some BHakta's wish). res res

sorry to say this...but d shiva purana does not mention such a story...actually, its nt sure whether d original purana had it or was tis story added later...debate continues among historians...but most believe tat story was added later...so, for ME...d original shiv purana does not mention andhaka!!!!

There is no version where both the brothers are married.

In the North Indian version, Kartikeya is the elder son who remains unmarried while Ganesh, the younger son lands with two wives.

In South Indian versions, it is the reverse. Ganesh is the elder son and remians a bachelor, while Murugan in the younger one and gets married.

DKDM is following the North Indian version, so I doubt they will show K's marriage.

In any case, Parvati has only two bahus- either the wives of Ganesha or the wives of Kartieya.

your north india-south india version doesn't make sense...cause, i have heard about all the 4 bahus of Parvati in rajasthan...u may have felt so because kartikeya is more prominent in the south while ganesh in the north...but none-the less, they both had 2 wives each...and parvati had 4 bahus...devsena was shown earlier in the serial...i m sure she will come back soon...Valli will come too!!!

Khndoba is a most worshiped deity in Maharashtra. Jijori temple is a foremost centre of his worship. HE is worshiped as Lingam as well as in idol form. As an idol, he is shown with four arms carrying Damru (drum), Trishula (trident), Bhandara patra (a bowl filled with turmeric powder) and Khadaga (sword). He is shown dressed as Maratha sardar or somewhere as Muslim Pathan. He is also depicted as a warier, sitting on the horse back with one or both of his wives and accompanied by his one or more dogs. In 'Martanda Bhairava' he is described as riding on Nandi bull, shining like gold and sun, covered in turmeric with three eyes and with crescent moon on his forehead. He has two wives Mahalasa (Parvati) and Banai (Ganga).

how can he have parvati and ganga as his wives and nandi as bull? 😕

Khandoba is believed to be a manifestation of the Rudra form of Hindu God Shiva. The Khandoba History indicates that the deity had it origin inSouth India. Origin and story of Khandoba is found in the 'Malhari Mahatmya. The story suggests that Khandoba appeared to annihilate demons Mani and Malla and restore Dharma.

Story of Khandoba
Legend has it that Mani and Malla became powerful by performing intense Tapas (austerities) dedicated to Brahma. After several years Brahma gave them boons. With unimaginable power on their disposal, Mani and Malla started harassing saints, Devas (demi gods) and humans. They created havoc and disturbed the peaceful life on earth and heaven.
Manichurna Mountain the abode of several holy persons was captured by Mani and Malla. Unable to tolerate their violence, saints, humans and demigods approached Shiva.
Shiva brought out several lieutenants from his matted lock to fight Mani and Malla and went to Manichurna Mountain. He himself took the form of Bhairav, the terrible form of Shiva, and Parvati took the form of Mhalsa. In some regions, Mhalsa is believed to be an incarnation of Mohini and Parvati.
The battle began on the Amavasi day of Kartik month and ended on the sixth day Margashirsh. Mani and Malla fought hard for six days. Finally, they fell on the feet of Shiva and they were killed. This happened on the sixth day of Margashirsh and is observed as Chamba Shasti. It is believed Lord Shiva decided to stay here in the form of a Swayambhu lingam after defeating the demons.
Khandoba the Deity
Mhalsa and Banai are the two consorts of Khandoba. A horse or a bull is the Vahana or vehicle of Khandoba and dogs surround him. There is also a belief that the Bull is Nandi and he takes the form of a horse.
Khandoba is believed to be a deity, which fulfills one's wishes. He is the Kuladaivat or family deity of millions of people in Maharashtra and Karnataka in India. The cult of Khandoba does not recognize any caste and religious barriers. There are numerous names of Khandoba ' Malhari, Mailar, Mairal, Martand, Malhari-Martand, Mhalasakant, Khaladeo and Elkot are the important among them.
Majority of the temples dedicated to Khandoba are located inMaharashtra and Karnataka. The most important one is the KhandobaTemple at Jejuri near Pune in Maharashtra.
The most important festival dedicated to Khandoba is observed on the sixth day of the Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon in Margashirsh month as per traditional Marathi calendar and is known as Champa Sashti. The festivities begin six days early. It is believed that Khandoba annihilated demons Mani and Malla on the Champa Sashti day.

Mhalsa and Banu are his wives

That's news to me. I thought that in the North, Kartikeya is regarded as a bachelor.

Anyway, what are Kartikeya's wives names in Rajasthan?
