SADYA [ FEAST]

PANAKAM [ JAGGERY WATER AND ELAICHI, FRUIT PIECES ARE ALSO ADDED]

PANCHAMRUTHAM [ MIX OF HONEY, MILK, BANANA, GHEE, CURDS]

NEER MOR [ CHAAS]

MUNDRI [CASHEW] PISTA, BADAM AND DRAKSHI [ RAISINS]

KALKANDU [ SUGAR CANDY]


THE DIVINE SADYA [ DIVINE FEAST]

The aroma of a feast being prepared wafted through air.

The temples Samayal Arrai [kitchen] was buzzing with activity.

The Divine Sadya [feast] was being prepared for a million devotees.

Pal Payasam[KHEER], Aviyal[MIXED VEG WITH COCONUT PASTE], Thoran[DRY VEG SIDE DISH NORMALLY CABBAGE OR BEANS], Kaalan[THICK KADHI], Olan[ VEG WITH COCONUT MILK], Tuvayal [SPICY CHUTNEY], Kootukari [ TYPE OF CURRY SWEET IN TASTE], Thayir Pachachadi [RAITA],

Puliinchi [IMLI CHUTNEY], Papadam and Rice was steaming and boiling in huge Uruli [ vessels from kerala]

Large Plantain leaves on which food was going to be served was cleaned , wiped and stacked neatly.

Different types of delicious fruits, Banana ' Vazhai Payam, Custard apple ' Seetha pazham, Dates ' Pericham pazham, Fig ' Atti pazham, Jackfruit ' Pala Pazham Mango (ripe) ' Mam pazham, was brought from all over the land to be served during the Muhurtham. [ the auspicious moment ]

Panchamrutam, Panakam and Neer Mor was served to everyone entering Nanjil Nadu.

Badam Paruppu, Mundriparuppu, Drakshai , and Pista Paruppu chopped and mixed with Kalkandu [ sugar rock candy] was placed in huge plates in every street corner.

The beautiful lilting music came from Nadaswaram, Flute, Veena, Ghatam and Mridangam.

Sthanu waited for Narda to transform himself into a SEVAL.

Nanjil Nadu waited for Sthanu.

Parvathi Waited for her Dhyutidhara

Bhanasur waited for them to Unite in Matrimonial bliss

The SEVAL [COCK] waited near the huge outer gates of Nanjil Nadu.

does in south people never take non veg??

Wow Jay that is an awesome feast so elaborate. Jhum on auspicious occasions no non veg in South Indian feast.

How can a goat or a hen be touched with a knife Jhum, they are also children of the Mahakal and Mahakali.
and In south for festival and auspicious occasions no nonveg, in fact even onions and garlic is not used in some homes.
the food is being prepared in the temple premises. No blood flows inside a south indian temple.

I love sadya.Best part of Tamil wedding.Cant help drooling when the dishes are so yummy.And after reading the update i have started drooling 😃
So i get it now.It was Mahadev's plan to not let the wedding happen.
