Indra always insecure so he had made many mistakes like tapasyabhang by seding apsaras to rishi or many other things.in case of Vishnu...the irony is he made purified ahilya in ram avtar in other he did same thing like indra with vrinda case.whatever may be the reason even for jagat kalyan one woman got victim and its big crime.

Looks like you all got the story of Lord Vishnu and Tulsi wrong. Vrinda was married to Jalandar (a Demon). She was a great devotee of Vishnu. She constantly prayed to Vishnu to always protect Jalandar. By doing so no one could defeat Jalandar, even the Trinity themselves. Lord Shiva then approaches Vishnu to solve this issue. The issue could only be solved if Vrinda's chastity was destroyed. So Vishnu takes up the role of violating Vrinda, so that Lord Shiva could destroy Jalandar.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Don't love someone so much that you overlook their defects. That is by itself a big sin. There are very few Pati-Vratha stree's in this Universe. Vrinda is one among them (As far as i remember those were: Sati, Anjana (saved Kesari), Ahalya, Draupadi, Tara, Vrinda and Mandodari.

Comparing Indra's story with Vishnu's story is wrong and disgraceful. Both situations are different. One was for Jagat Kalyan (Vrinda) so that a demon could be killed.. in this Vishnu had no lust whatsoever and he did it on the request of Shiva. Indra violated a Rishi's wife and that too for selfish reasons. So comparing the two is as good as Paap. And don't forget, today when someone Rapes a Woman, the Woman has to lead a disgraceful life.. on the other hand, Vrinda was immortalized as Tulsi (today no Vishnu puja starts without Tulsi leaves). And Ahalya was also immortalized as the biggest devotee of Vishnu (in Lord Ram's Avatar).

at risk of blasphemy, i respectfully disagree..even if it was for the "greater Good", not even God has the right to violate a woman's chastity..whether it was lust or duty, a woman was cheated and raped..and then later, we try to compensate by calling her one of the 7 pious women..why? because she was wronged and all know tht..same goes with Ahilya..for no fault of hers, she was punished..what was Vrinda's fault? tht she prayed for her husband??how was it not her duty? if she hadnt, she would have been blamed for not being "pati-vrata".. all through history and mythology, the woman has been blamed for whatever she does..remember the saying of "sita chup rahi to ramayan hua, draupadi boli to mahabharat hua" u just cant win...

thanx..i feel not just Adi-Shakti but all the three Goddesses shud have cursed Indra together so tht he learnt a good lesson..he disrespected a chaste woman and shud have lost not just Shakti, bt wealth (Shree) and Knowledge (Saraswati) as well...
