Keep in mind that this is in context of an era where a woman merely thinking about a man was good enough to declare her his, and marriage was then more of a formality. Knowing that a woman was married was enough to turn off any potential suitor. Now, granted the asuras were more relaxed in their rules, but still, the idea that Mahishashur would still not be turned off by the fact that Durga is married is tough to swallow - unless Mahishashur simply didn't care about such small details.
Better pick up line might have been, "Marry me - I'd love to have your son as mine" 😈🤣
