i stayed in chennai for more dan a year.i know ppl belonging 2 different states pronounce a word differently.in chennai,i hv seen ppl pronouncing 'mahesh' as 'magesh',etc.so jst wanted 2 know is dere any specific reason why tamilians pronounce like dis?

Here's the short/brief answer.

The Tamil alphabet is different from the Sanskrit alphabet. The classical Tamil scheme does not contain letters like "h"...or the aspirated sounds like "dh" or "sh".

So you'll see Siva not Shiva.
And Mages not Mahesh

Modern Tamil has incorporated these phonemes of course. You can look up on the web the linguistic systems of Tamil.

I stayed in chennai for one year so i know very few words of tamil.My mother tongue is not tamil.
