How was this possible?

Did Shiv not know that Parvati was indeed Sati/Adishakti when he first saw her... how did he realize that she was his Sati reincarnated?

He was kind of distraught over Sati's immolation and had distanced himself from the world. Even his beloved Nandi was not with him. When he first met Sati, he was not so oblivious about everything. Maybe oblivious is not the right word, but you get the point.

See,in da case of sati,mahadev already knew dat she is da incarnation of Adishakti.He is God yaar,he knows everything.

First of all let me tell you

1) Shiv and Shakti are never separated this whole universe is the product of their union

2) These kind of leelas and things happen for the benefit and sustenance of mankind.

3) Shiv is trikal darshi and sarva gnani and maha yogi

so the deduction from all the above is

Shiv knows everything so it is impossible for him to not know that parvati is adi shakti. Shiv is beyond all maya so all the grief and pain he showed when sati immolated was illusory and for the establishment of shakti peeth.

Shiv precisely even knows the moment and second when he will get married to parvathi and all other events that take place in this world.

So dont mistake shivji's emotions and actions as similar to that of Humans they have much deeper meaning and purpose.
