Formation of 3 Shivlings named Pratigyeshwar, Kapaleshwar and Kumareshwar by Kumar

While the deities hailed the glory of Kartikeya for having killed Tarakasur, Kartikeya himself was saddened by his act. He told the deities 'I regret for having killed Tarakasur because he was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. Is there any way to atone for my sin?'

Lord Vishnu consoled him 'Killing a wicked person, who nourishes himself on the blood of innocent people, is not a sinful deed. But, still, if you feel guilty then there is no better way to atone for your sin than worshipping Lord Shiva. Install Shivalingas and worship them with deep devotion.' Kartikeya instructed Vishnukarma to make three divine Shivalingas. Later on Kartikeya installed these Shivalingas at three different places and worshipped them with appropriate rituals. In course of time these three holy places came to be known as Pratigyeshwar, Kapaleshwar and Kumareshwar. Kartikeya, while worshipping at Kapaleshwar sprinkled holy water on the Shivalinga and prayed so that Tarakasur's soul rested in peace. He also offered sesame seeds to lord Kapaleshwar and prayed.

'May my offerings made in the form of sesame seeds reach Tarak the descendant of Sage Kashyap.'

This way, Kartikeya was absolved of his sins.

As Skanda was remorseful to have killed Mahishasura, Vishnu advised Kartikeya to atone, if the boy's conscience was hurting, to perform Tirtha Yatra and take bath in the Pradyuka Sarovara which like a Kuthaara or axe would demolish his sins especially of committing of the murder of a cousin brother. Vishnu further advised Skanda that he could as well secure his father Shankara's darshan there. As advised Kumara did the Tirtha Yatra, secured Maheswara's darshan as also the boon of bestowing Shakti to cut off the thousand hands of Banasura.

Fight Between Kumar and Banasur

The mountain - Kraunch, who was tormented by the activities of the demon named Banasur, went to Kartikeya and narrated his woeful tales.

Kartikeya threw his weapon - Shakti in the direction which Banasur lived. The weapon banged right on target and returned back to him. Banasur was burnt to ashes. Kraunch went back being very pleased.

Killing of Pralamb by Kumar

A demon named Pralamb had escaped unharmed in the battle fought between the deities and demons. As the deities were busy installing Shivalingas at different places, Pralamb started to torment their families in their absence. The deities got this information from Kumud - son of Sheshnag who appeared at the time when the deities were digging up a reservoir near 'Siddheshwar' temple. All the deities requested Kartikeya to do something. Kartikeya released his fiery weapon, Shakti in the direction of Pralamb. Shakti pierced the heart of earth and went right up to Patal loka where Pralamb lived with the surviving demons. All the demons were killed within few moments.

A long tunnel had been created as the impact of Shakti's penetration of the earth. This tunnel was later on filled up with the water of Patal Ganga and became famous as 'Siddha-koopa.'

Hello to everyone, to all members of IF.

Today, I will portray the story Ganesha avatar. Ganesha is also called as Kashyap son, So what's the story behind him to take avatar, I will discuss here. Hope you all will like it.

!!Shree Ganeshaye namah!!

Ganesha as Kashyap-Nandan
There lived a pious Rishi named Rudraketu, with his wife Shaaradaa, in Vaan kingdom on the banks of the Gangaa River. They had no children first, but they had two sons after a long time. They named them Devaantak and Naraantak. The boys were handsome and brave. They were the devotees of Shiv and they got a boon from him that none - whether he be a god, angel, human, demon, or animal could kill them. Thus they became invincible and started conquering the world. Naraantak became the Lord of the nether worlds and Devaantak won the Heavens. Soon the normal equilibrium of the world got upset.

Aditi Penance

One day Aditi requested her husband Kashyap Jee, "I have all the Devtaa as my sons, but I wish to have the Almighty as my son too, so that I can love Him as my son." Kashyap Jee asked her to worship Vinaayak. Aditi did severe penance for him and pleased him. He got pleased and gave her Var to be born as her son.

Kashyap Penance

Lord Brahma advised Kashyap, who was like a son to him,to chant the 'Aum' mantra and also explained to him the importance of it.Accordingly Kashyap worshipped Shree Ganesha by the way of Aum mantra.Pleased with the devotion,Omkar Ganesha appeared before him promised him to fulfill his desire of any kind

Overwhelmed Kashyap requested Ganesha to take birth as his child and be known as 'KashyapNanaadan'.

As Devaantak and Naraantak were disturbing the whole world, Ganesh Jee thought to incarnate as the son of Aditi, and he appeared in Kashyap's house with all his divine splendor.

In the month of 'Magh'(January),Omkar Ganesh appeared in childform in the lap of Kashyap's wife,Aditi. Then at the age of five the thread ceremony was done.Ganesha was known by the name 'Mahotkat' who killed the demons,Devantak-Narantak and many others.

But after lapse of some period,Ganesha left for his abode at Ganeshlok. Kashyap-Aditi lost the whole interest in the life without the dear son,Mahotkat. Later on Sage Narada advised them to establish a shrine of Mahotkat and pray him. Kashyap-Aditi obeyed him and always felt that Ganesha is with them.

The dwelling(Ashram) of Kashyap-Aditi was at VarahMulam in Sri Nagar,Kashmir and this idol of Ganesha here is called 'Kashyap Nandan'.

Hope u all like this story.
