Hey guys my first OS and I hope you will like it. It is called
A DREAM OF A DREAM
Manyata couldn't hear a thing. It felt like everything was on mute. She could see her mobile ring and she knew it was Akash calling her yet again and it irritated her all the more. Hadn't she made it loud and clear that she wasn't interested in speaking to him? She grabbed her phone in anger and threw it at the wall and watched as it broke into pieces. A noisy thud made her look toward the window. It was raining and memories flooded her. She closed her eyes squeezing them as if to repress the images recurring in her mind's eye. She needed to escape, but where could she go? The chawl was out of the question and even if it was the last place on earth she wouldn't go back she decided firmly. Today for the first time in her twenty years she felt absolutely alone. The conversation with her mother replayed in her head. Yes her mother was right, she lost everything and Jai had done a good job of rubbing more salt on her wound. She had been a fool and she wondered if Jai was right? Did she deserve all this? Did she deserve Uday, the riyasat, her family? She knew that he deserved better and that's what all were saying, including the staff.
She felt more suffocated and wished she could get out. She glanced at the pouring rain and decided it was the best medicine. She opened the window and immediately a strong gust of wind and rain hit her face and drenched her slightly. The feeling was wonderful and for the first time after last evening she half smiled. She stepped into the pouring rain and walked till she reached the secluded part of the garden. She was cold and completely drenched but she didn't care. She found a bench and sat there like a automaton thinking about the one person who mattered the most in her life and the one person who wasn't with her today ' Uday and tears flowed steadily and silently
Uday poured out another drink and slowly sipped it. Just this morning he had declared to the whole of India that he was single and ready to mingle, but then why wasn't he feeling the freedom. He took another sip as his mind provided him with the answer ' Manyata. He gulped down his drink ignoring the way his throat burned and got up with a start. He had to stop thinking about her. He had to continue with his life his head told him, which will not have Manyata anymore. His heart gave a lurch at that thought. Can he? Will he? He walked over to the window and stared out into the dark. Nothing much was visible damn the rain. He hated the season and he hated the way he was feeling. He sighed as he glanced at his watch, one am, he should be in bed although he knew he wouldn't sleep. He turned to leave but something caught his eye, a flash of white, and he turned toward the window again peering into the darkness. His vision cleared the narrow eyes widened in shock and letting out an expletive shot to the door like a bullet and bounded down the stairs with worry and fear etched on his face.
She knew she had to get go back inside but she felt so good. She felt as if the rain was punishing her, purifying her and it seemed so good. She stood and turned and in a minute she was on the ground. Uday's face zoomed in front of her and she closed her eyes as if locking his image. She didn't dare move, didn't dare open her eyes for the fear that he might disappear. She felt as if she was drowning and she clutched at the grass tighter as if it was her only lifeline. "Uday", she mumbled "Sorry Uday" she said as more tears flowed. "Uday"
It just took five minutes for Uday to reach her. His heart squeezed as he saw his Princess lying on the garden floor. He scooped her up and held her close as he took large strides toward the Palace. "Princess, princess" he called as he carried her. Manyata's eyes half opened and she gave a feeble smile. "Uday, I'm sorry" she mumbled again. She held onto him as he carried her to her room and placed her gently on the bed.
"Princess, open your eyes" he said as he gently shook her. Manyata opened her eyes and looked around and when her eyes met his she smiled
"You scared me Princess" he said holding her hand and kissed it.
"I love you Uday" she said touching his face which invited a brilliant smile from him
"As I love you" he said as he leaned forward. Manyata closed her eyes as she waited for the touch of his lips on hers.
"Yuvrani sa, Yuvrani sa" said someone and her eyes flew open. "Yuvrani sa, it's raining heavily and you are drenched completely, please come inside" said a staff holding huge umbrella. Manyata looked up to see the palace in complete darkness and slowly got up wondering if she had been dreaming. Another staff placed a thick blanket on her and led her toward the palace. She held the blanket close as she tried to recall if Uday was actually with her. It had felt so real. She had felt him. She turned once more toward the windows hoping to see him standing with his signature smirk but there was no one. She sighed and dejectedly walked toward the palace.
At the far end of the palace Uday stood staring at the retreating figure of Manyata and ran his hands over his wet hair. "Time to get yourself dry Uday" he told himself and walked back into the room.
