That's not always true. Of course if someone from them gets an offer for a film most of the chances are s/he will accept it, but most of the times especially nowadays the dancers are professional dancers from some of the famous troupes in the city. They don't go there to become a film star, they go there to give a good performance. I think the goal is to become a choreographer eventually. 😊

Most of the chances are their dance company will try to tie up with some of the stars or musician or some entertainment house so that whenever they undertake some world tour or something like that, they'll be the one performing along with them (that's not to say that they don't perform abroad on their own).

What you said holds true more for the extras while acting. They are really fun to watch if someone actually focuses on them. Especially when they have to do some movement or some small stuff but no dialogue. Oh , I love watching extras as high society party attendees, trying to dance in 70's movies .. 😆 the one comes to mind is from movie Sharaabi - during Inteha ho gayee song. 😛

Hey, sahi pehchana😆 Those were the kinds I was talking about...the late 70's, 80's and very early 90's movies. The hi flying dance schools were not catering to choreographers then. Those were the genuine 24 carat extras dancing with the stars😆😆

I thought you were talkng about those dancers with Jeetendra and Sridevi's Tohfa songs .😆 😛 and Souro was talking about Shamak Davar kind of troupe in Le gayi Legayi song in Dil to pagal hain. and I am talking about those pot bellied extras posing as party guests and trying to do party dancing by swaying left and right!!! 😆

@Madmadgirl: 🤣 LOL What an analysis!!! 😆

@Qwertyesque: Well, i agree, that it's the "main guy" who drives the point... But very often, the bad guy's just as important! True, they can't be "liked". But why are they never even appreciated?

Like, for example, there's the new book series Twilight. There's the charming handsome and extremely understanding Edward Cullen (The whole WORLD loves him i think)... And there's Jacob. He's done absolutely NOTHING bad. He's almost a perfect role model. But he likes the same girl that our hero Cullen likes. Result? People hate him, why though? He's not the "main" guy there, he's not bad either! (yet) If liking is too much to ask, why not some appreciation at least? 😳

If I remember correctly, Twilight is predominantly an Edward and Bella love story. So even if Jacob is a nice guy, he won't be liked or appreciated by the average reader because he creates conflict between the two protagonists.

It must also be noted that most readers don't bother analysing characters in a detached way to gain any sort of appreciation. They either love a character or hate him/her.
