Legacy...Goondaraj

What is a Legacy: Legacy -- "Something received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past." (Webster's Dictionary).

So is a great legacy in large insurance policies, Healthy /heavy bank accounts, large investment portfolios,mansions; or a loving world living in faith and hopeof better future. Is it limited to our personal resources only?

I consider legacy surroundings too, our area, city, country, earth. When we look around what we see... a corrupted system where corrupted politicians have politicisedd police and justice. We live by being a part of it so are we not leaving the same system for our future too. How can we talk about bright future when present is so ugly. When we see these immoral changes in the nation do you ever wonder.. what( if any) legacy are we leaving for our future generations

Are we only concern for their future by savings or are we doing anything to change our system.

Are we as teacher bringing up true values in the children or just going to fulfill a task of teaching.

Are we as doctors fulfilling our duties for bright future or limited to big cities with all luxury just for us

Are we as a engineer making sure of secure technology without supporting bribe system.

Are we as scientist making sure of finding new ways of preserving our society and making our research worthwhile to humankind. Are we also more concerned about us and leaving the planet earth as it is.

Are we as a common man looking around to see if we can give a hand to society upliftment or we close our eyes.

As politicians are we planning to give one of the best Law and Order where anyone could walk out at any time of day and night without fear

as a parent are we giving our kids values of life or just showing our concerns for them only

Overall are we workign towards the legacy as a whole or our personal only

Great post 👏 I will try and answer as a human being and as a teacher 😊

As a human being, I do try to look at the larger picture. Our personal lives do take over most of our time, but as and when I can, I do my bit for issues that matter. I try to fight for my and other people's rights; I try to stand up for the truth. I may or may not be successful, but there is a sense of fulfilment in the feeling that I have "tried".

As a teacher, I have never ever restricted myself to teaching the prescribed syllabus. I have always tried to inculcate values of honesty, hard work and accountability in my students. (No wonder students write stuff like "she is also a good mother". I bet the scoldings must remind them of their mothers 😆😆😆 )

At the end of the day, I think our legacy depends on our inheritance. What we inherit from our family in values and in our upbringing, is usually what we leave behind as our legacy. My two cents 😃

I think your legacy in the bigger context is carried forward by our children who are our representatives in the next generation...giving them good values, the strength to stand up for their beliefs and a love for humanity is the best legacy that we can leave behind...

teachers in that sense have a more important role since they are influencing not just their own children but all the students they teach over the years

Another thing that we can leave behind is a better environment...so I try to light one less bulb, use one less plastic bag and recycle as much as I can! 😛

We as human are forced into the legacy, yes after realizing the fact somethings are good or bad some take efforts but by that time its too late, plus survival and other responsibilities take a toll over oneself.

But yeah futuistic there are efforts being made to improve the system not by all but some, arn't we evolved from jungle age to town age...its improving but ideal system 100% ah ahaa not gonna happen.

In one of the post earlier I did mention, selude the younger generation from the current system, educate them and let the society start fresh, if thats gonna happen orelse nothing can be done and we will be talking about the same stuff 40 years down the lane.
