UP govt orders inquiry into fake encounter case
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered an inquiry into the footage aired by a TV news channel purportedly showing an alleged fake encounter in which the police shot dead a criminal even though he was about to surrender.

Chief Minister Mayawati has directed the Crime Branch CID to complete the inquiry within a month after the footage of the alleged fake encounter was aired by a news channel on Tuesday night.

The footage showed a criminal Pintu Mishra being chased by several policemen and purportedly gunned down in the civil lines area in Allahabad city on September 18 last year.

State police chief Vikram Singh said that it was a very serious matter and was "not only a clear cut case of human rights violation but also of murder".

"The criminal must have been allowed to surrender," Singh said.

He said that stern action would be taken against the cops if they were found guilty in the inquiry.

Police sources quoting Mayawati also said that action would be taken against the TV channel if the footage turned out to be doctored.

We do not know whether the video is original or doctored to prove that police is wrong.

If the police think the criminal is someone who has too much evidence against him, but has a lot of support from external factors like politicians/blind janta or underworld

they should certainly encounter those, but it should be done such that none of their body parts ever are visible again to anyone

The Judiciary is very slow in punishing these people, if and when they are punished media or janata creates sympathy for them, best option would be just to get rid of them

On another news channel "Live India", it was shown that the encounter was not fake.. some witness brought forward by "Live India channel" has come forward to testify that Pintu Mishra had infact had them on gun point on that day and police was trying to save them from him and the story shown on India T.V. (i think) few days back was fabricated... and the video shown by India T.V. was not shown in its entirety...

Well said....but..

If a criminal ready to surrender...that time if any police person try to shoot or encounter them, its very rude and against the human rights...😳
