Hey all,

There are many reality shows out on tv. Especially talent hunts. The winners of many of these shows are are chosen by public votes. The question is, Do you think this is appropriate? Should the unskilled audience (in that field) vote for a winner or should this decision be left upon a qualified panal of judges? What are the pros and cons of both? Feel free to add anything else you want as long as it pertains to the topic

i totally agree with you...its all about earning money from SMSs and fooling the people to think they were the decision makers so the show's TRPs stay high. The truth is that Reality shows, despite their name, are farther from reality than the ficticious dramas

interesting point you made KarotroToo. i wouldnt be shocked if that was happening......but i hope its not.

and i don't think its fair for the public to vote. the public vote turns into a popularity vote and the end result is not necessarily the best one.

people vote for the person from their town, state etc, meanwhile, this could mean that the REAL person who should've won ends up losing.

I know what you mean ...cus I almost cried last year when Amey Date was voted out of Indian Idol n that weird dood who couldn't sing stuck around for another round in the top 3! And then Karunya lost to this guy from Rajasthan..the name I cant even remember! 😕

(I think I have my facts correct lol...I hope or else everyone is going to whack my brains off 😛)

Nothing personal or meant to offend people's sentiments but yaar thisz really disappointing. erm I have no relation to Amey or Karunya, but I just thought that they both were better singers than the rest. After this, I just lost interest in it N stopped believing in people's votes as well as the organizers. Dont know who controls all of this anymore. Dont know how it works either! 😒

I believe in KT's theory..these contests are about money making..nowadays, ppl value looks/personality more than talent..sadly, its the truth. not just the sony shows...but zee tv's cinestar ki khoj was the same deal...talented ppl were bumped off and undeserving people won.

but...if they truly use public votes to decide the results, i think its fair because in the end..its the public who will buy the CD/albums or watch the movie or listen to the songs...so the winner should be chosen by them
