New Delhi: India runs scared of China, says a senior Indian diplomat. He was commenting on the controversy over China refusing a visa to an Indian official from Arunachal Pradesh.

Another official however hinted that India may have deliberately provoked the incident. (Apni galti bataakar rote raho, kitne sharm ki baat hai🤢)

The retired diplomat said the Arunachal official may have been included in the team of 106 IAS officers to test the Chinese.

If he had been given a visa, India could have cited it as proof that China's claim to Arunachal and that all Arunachalis are Chinese citizens, has no basis. But India's attempt did not succeed. (Why are we so pathetic, AP is a state in India. Chinese must be told in plain language to back off from their rubbish claims on India territories or be ready for change in our positions on Tibet and Taiwan)

Other diplomats are offended at China raising the visa issue just two days before the team was to leave for Beijing. They say it reflects China's confidence in the defensive Indian mindset. (Sad but True)

"We have just sat back when China makes claims on Arunachal Pradesh and does nothing. We have a tendency to run scared of China , that's one thing we should avoid", said former diplomat G Parthasarathy. (Well said Partha ji)

Arunachal Pradesh is not the only part of India that China lays claim to, China occupies Aksai Chin in Ladakh. (And I don't think India public has been told about the gravity of situation, clearly China is our Enemy, their actions are hostile to us)

It also holds the Shaksgam Valley and border areas in Himachal. The Bara Hoti grasing grounds in Uttaranchal is another claim. (Chinese are too much, someone ought to teach them now, and only US has the balls right now. Humari political leadership to ekdam 6 hai.😡)

India should retaliate the diplomat says on Tibet and Taiwan that China claims as its own. (Yep, please do that)

"We gave up any card that we had on Tibet, we eroded our position on the district identity of Tibet with the passage of time. Unless you retain those cards, for example can we reciprocate by say agreeing to a ministerial level delegation from Taiwan. Like other ASEAN countries do like Japan does," said Parthasarathy.

But baiting China so openly carries its own risks – it's not even clear if the MEA will at all respond to China's latest diplomatic put down. (Pathetic!)

------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------

Not only China, we seem to be scared of anybody and everybody. Anyone can walk over us. Yeh sab oldies (political/diplomatic leadership) ko hamesha ke liye chhutti dene ka time aa gayaa hai, we need new fresh blood who is without any past baggage, is fearless and takes no nonsense.

Nice topic Deepak 👏

I don't think India is scared of China! India is a peace loving nation. It does'nt want any sort of disturbances atleast from that side! Already India is busy with Kashmir!

China is a strong nation,India along with China can give a good competition to USA! China and India can share the mutual resources and give good competition to super powers and I feel in the near future CHINDIA(China + India) is going to be the Super power in the world!!

India and China both will have advantagee if they help each other!!

But China can never be trusted!Remember the Panch Sheel of Nehru and the war! When we cannot fight with the enemy it is better not to have enemity with that enemy!!However in the relations between Cheen and Bharat the " Cheeni Kum" factor increases when Indo US relations increase! Its suprising to see that when the relations between Indo-US increase the relation between Pak-China increase! Everything is diplomacy!!

A good article on Indo China Relations!!

What is the true map of India! The Indian Map which we see in BBC is different from which we see in Indian channels!! That says all😛😕

Huh! If US comes and sits in Kashmir it can have good control on entire south asia and this is the reason Uncle Sam has lot of interest in India! If that happens then there will be lot of problem in South Asia! So India wants to play safe with China!!

Tibet😭😭 Just mediate instead of meditating😛

Our political leadership is, heck they are even scared of a constant irritant called Pakistan. And can we please drop this cliched line "We are a peace loving nation..blah blah blah", sar dard hone lagaa hai ab yeh baar baar sunkar. We want peace but not at ANY cost, we can not and must not ignore our neighbours' hostile actions. Lets be honest, they do not want to see a powerful and prosperous India and they are trying everything to achieve that.

China is a strong nation,India along with China can give a good competition to USA! China and India can share the mutual resources and give good competition to super powers and I feel in the near future CHINDIA(China + India) is going to be the Super power in the world!!

Com'on we have much much more to gain if we align with US than China. China is hostile to us, she is an adversary, an enemy. They are holding on to thousands of sq kms of our territory and still claim more. They have built up Pakistan's nuclear and missle arsenal which is only meant for India. They have played their cards very well, they have made sure that we are always pre-occupied with Pak and remain limited to South Asia. We must realise that Pak is only a minor irritant in larger scheme of things. China is a much bigger threat in long term.

India and China both will have advantagee if they help each other!!

Yes, Reality is something else.

Exactly, we should never trust China, are we blind to see the kind of things they are doing.

oh, we cant help but be scared of china. they are ruthless, focused, untrustworthy, strong both militarily and economically and dont give too hoots about what the rest of the world has to say (witness tiannamen square).

if it comes to choosing between the US and china to be aligned with, we should go with the US. we can bend over backwards to accomodate the chinese (eg. when we recognized tibet as an integral part of china), but they'll always strike back, like that poisonous thing. at least with the US, they dont have that same meanness and viciousness, and there's the possibility of building a useful partnership with them (eg as is the case in Nato). of course, we need to play that game covertly because we cant openly antagonize the chinese for the reasons mentioned above.

great points CB but one ugly truth is that US has at one or other point invaded most of its allies so far. Keeping this history in mind, can we afford to be aligned with the US? I agree 100% on not trusting China but US is not that trustworthy either. It's a matter of chosing the less poisnous snake imo.

US has invaded allies? invaded? i'd put it more as them backing various losing causes and being invited by those regimes to bail them out. in other instances, except for the latest iraq fiasco they've gone in after UN approvals, where russia, china and france have veto power, countries which havent always been pro-US.

at least with the US, there's the possibility of benefitting enormously in terms of economy and technology, as has happened for china and japan. those economic benefits have translated into military might for china. we could follow the same path (and from our current stance, it seems as if we are).

of course it would be great if we could derive all the benefits of a pro-US policy without taking sides. but i wouldnt count on that happening- we dont exactly feel nice about countries (and people in our personal lives) which have had a history of taking sides earlier but which refuse to take our side now.
