Having reserved days - is it correct?

Valentine's Day - The card, flowers and chocolate sellers make the max out of it...

Woman's Day - Gives an opportunity for the male dominated society to show-off that they do care about us too...

Mother's Day - Again 'diwali-time' for Card and Gift shops!..

The question is:

Is it even proper to just have one day marked for something as pure as Love, a group who cater to half of world's population and has the unique power of creating life, and the all important angel in each of our lives??

Aren't we demeaning them by celebrating them just for a day? 😕 Thoughts please.. 😊

These days are celebrated to enhance the powers of life. Yes, i agree that our whole life should be dedicated to these days, respecting women, showing love to our loved one and the angel who brought is in the world, but the fact is we dont do it. 😊

You don't like the fact that there's a day specially for women.😕 Atleast you people have one day, we don't even have that.😭

I don't believe in reserving special days for love, mother or father, as these things are meant to be celebrated and respected and cherished throughout your life. There are certain other days like earth day, aids week and many more, which are important in a way as they definitely help in spreading awareness, and if people take the time to participate in these days they'll take away some valuable learning.

But when you say - one day is woman's day, it sounds like saying - OK this is one day recognizing you, the rest is recognizing us 😕 If the woman in your life is special, show that through the day to day actions, show that through your thoughts, show that through those little nothings... believe me - she will be lot happier and contended 😳

And here 'you' does not mean Souro - so no offence please 😊

Yes - I think having Earth day etc that spread social awareness makes sense.. agree with that part.... But it should not be celebrated for relations etc for sure.... They are a part of every moment of your life and just expressing gratitude on a given day is like saying 'You are special only for today' 😭

My opinion on reserved days for celebration

Happy celebrations like Father's day/Mother's day/Valentine's day: All these days existed even before the card companies. There are plenty evidences to support the fact of origin of these days and people celebrating it back then. It is true that card companies did make such days known to more people and I am not complaining because these days bring happiness in celebration and gives everyone an oppurtunity to thank people (Mother/Father) who means a lot to us. We know we love them but we don't say it daily. So why not reserve a day to do that? Even a festival like Diwali is actually celebration of joy and those stories associated with such festivals finally end in celebration of happiness.

Women's day: I am of the idea that women doesn't need a day to celebrate womenhood. Card companies didn't make this one a hit but it was well thought by women's liberation groups and spread world wide for the cause of women. So again my opinion is that if we keep special days to each cause like oppression of women, Cancer day, AIDS, Smoking then people take notice to it instantly and such days do make impact on people to do more for the cause.
