Somewhere, sometime, everyone indulge in gossips.

Why do people gossip?

Does anyone benefit from gossip?

Is gossip the means to just pass the time?

Do you enjoy gossiping?

The tag line of the movie... Shootout At Lokhandawala is... Based on True Rumours....

Based on True Rumours... what does that mean?

😊

Now now Qwerty.. are you trying to sell your book "Art of Bitching" for those who can't gossip? 😆 cos I have been looking for one..😳

Coming back to topic here.. Gossip helps the insecure and low self esteemed people deal with their flaws and short comings..and in the process get some people in trouble just for fun..!!!!! 😡

I will just like to share this here... sweta I am sorry in advance if you find it out of place...

Gossip

A woman repeated a bit of gossip about a neighbor. Within a few days the whole community knew the story.

The person it concerned was deeply hurt and offended. Later the woman responsible for spreading the rumor learned that it was completely untrue.

She was very sorry and went to a wise old sage to find out what she could do to repair the damage.

"Go to the marketplace," he said, "and purchase a chicken, and have it killed. Then on your way home, pluck its feathers and drop them one by one along the road."

Although surprised by this advice, the woman did what she was told.

The next day the wise man said, "Now go and collect all those feathers you dropped yesterday and bring them back to me."

The woman followed the same road, but to her dismay, the wind had blown the feathers all away. After searching for hours, she returned with only three in her hand.

"You see," said the old sage, "it's easy to drop them, but it's impossible to get them back.

So it is with gossip. It doesn't take much to spread a rumor, but once you do, you can never completely undo the wrong."

Gossiping is such a problem especially with desis. I don't know why they do it. When someone lives in a small town where everyone knows everyone, people tend to know EVERYTHING that goes on with people. I live in a huge city and STILL the desis come to know if something masaledaar happens. I'm starting to think gossiping is genetically embedded in our DNA or something 😆

Good story Manjuji and very appropriate!

Gossip can start as a spot of fun, but if not controlled it's a loose cannon. I used to live in a small community and one evening I got a phone call that a neighbour of ours had broken her wrist. I rushed to her place to find that she had a small cut on the back of her hand. 😕 Harmless, but a good example of how it can expand into something bigger.
