notebook movie

there was this malayalam movie notebook that i watched few weeks ago, and in this movie, a high school girl gets pregnant and she goes to the hospital with her friend for abortion. the doctors perform the procedure and she dies during the surgery. my question is this, how come those doctors did surgery without the consent of the elders? in india, doesn't the hospital need parents' consent? well, the girls have hidden this issue from the pregnant girl's mother, so they wanted to do the abortion without telling anyone. i would like to know your thoughts on the movie. do you think such abortion should be allowed where the parents are not being told the risk of their kid's health? i read in one of the reviews and i also feel that the movie focused more on the topic of relationship between kids and parents. if the parents listen to their kids, then kids won't try to hide such issues. your thoughts on this 😛

In some cultures, excessive demand of respect widens the generation gap to a level where open discussion and sharing life's experiences becomes impossoble for the children.
I adore and respect elders who treat youngsters as their friends, when it comes to discussing what matters to these kids (especially when their hormones are raging and adolescenec hits).

Respect for elders is a must, but not at the price of a proximity lost 😕

Not seen the movie, but seen lot of girls HIDING their guy friend, their boy friends, their sexual behaviour at young age from their parents. Those in denial should wake up and smell coffee. Although we will conviniently blame it on influence of Western culture, we should realize that these incidents will only become more prevalent and we need to learn the importance of honest and open dialogues.

yes agree with you totally especially the bolded part, its really important for parents to have a friend to friend talk when a child is at a ripe age. teenagers don't need orders but they need guidance and parents can advice them as friends. as you said elders must be respected but parents should also be flexible. if parents try to listen to what their kids feel, i think such issues caused by teenagers will be less likely to happen 😛 i don't mean to offend anyone but respect in such places is a little hyperbolic. don't you think so? you can teach kids to respect but you cannot demand but this is another topic that can be discussed 😛

i also agree with you and i have seen many girls hiding their relationships, that's because their family doesnt even want to know, but honestly i have seen the kids who usually hide their relationship from parents are the ones who have strict parents most of the time.

yes i agree with most of the things you wrote except with that last segment you wrote . i had a cousin who had such affectionate parents who would never even rasie their voice over their children but the boy took to drugs at a tender age and to date after being so much older and a full adult cannot come to terms with normal life.i feel the middle path shuld be taken ..control the children but also scold them wherever necessary.too much strictness and too much friendliness and freedom takes them farther away from you. my opinion.

Hi Shabari! This is what I feel 😊.
Not raising the voice is not the right thing anyway. Good friends also raise voice against their friends' wrong-doings and explain the consequences and help their friends in the process of understanding.
Allowing kids to behave any which way does not make one a good parent either. The one you described is yet another case of lack of COMMUNICATION which led to tragic events.
I think it was negligence and too much of freedom that takes kids away, not friendliness. Friendliness does not mean allowing your kid to walk all over you and you'll sit back and allow that behaviour. 😕
