Hi,

I am not sure if the topic has already been discussed or not. I open the floor for discussion on self-satisfaction and low self-esteem.

How come a person appreciates good in another person, but can't do the same for himself or herself? Howcome a person can give all he or she can, yet not be able to accept the same for herself or himself?

For instance, it is easier to shower love and concern, but not so easy to accept if love is showered on him or her? Feel unworthy of getting it back! It's easier to shower others with praises, but it is hurtful when somebody complements back ... again, thinking 'I do not deserve it or not as good as another thinks of me'. It might or might not be true; after all, we all know of our shortcomings, etc.

Howcome it is easier to critize ourselves or to say 'I can be better'? Can we ever be happy with ourselves? Is it possible to be satisfied with our own qualities?

Please do entertain me with your views.

Waiting in souro's reply for sure. A topic on day-dreaming just might pop up in 3-4 days!😉😆

I often think about htis, why can't we be happy with who we are, why do we always have to think, that look at that perosn he/she is great, and then you think but im not that great.
I am a person who does that, i look at people and respect them and think wow, that person is great, but when it comes time to think about myself, i try to keep my slef away from that, because i dont believe i have the potental.
But, anyway, i think the reason we can't be happy with ourselves is because, their is that subconsiousness within ourselves, urging us on, that you can do better.
I think that their are some ppl who can b happy with themselves, because they have seen enough, and realized that, this is who they are, the reason the ppl that live around them love them, because they are different.
Great topic!

Decided not to dissapoint you Persy.😆 Though I love to work with hard facts and human relations and emotions are a bit difficult for me.

As for you saying that when someone compliments us we feel we're not worthy, I'm not very sure. Do you have facts/ stats for that.(j/k)😆 But seriously does it work that way?? I mean we get irritated with constant fake flattery but I think when a compliment is honest it usually works as an encouragement for the person, atleast that's what HR Mgmt. has to say for verbal rewards. Sometimes we see people saying 'Awww but I'm not worthy of it' on hearing a compliment or while receiving a prize, but don't worry that's just fake modesty while their heart is doing happy somersaults and the others are agreeing with him/her silently, thinking actually they themself deserved it more.

Self criticising is a part of everyone's life as it helps us in achieving something even bigger and better everytime we go out in life and do something. Given enough time all of us can do even better than what we've already done but that doesn't mean we shouldn't give due importance or credit to what we've already achieved.

Hope I didn't bore you with my non-sensical post (translation- I know you were not bored, now come out and give me some compliment for my brilliant post).😉

PS- will wait for your day dreaming topic 😍 which will turn out to be another brilliant one I'm sure.👏

Our expectations with ourselves are usually higher... that is why its hard to please ourselves rather than someone else.. at least for me, im culprit of not being good with myself

low self-esteem is somewhat concerned with lack of confidence. and it may be different from self-satisfaction as you have said percy. But when there is confidence, high-self esteem and tooo much expectations, one is bound to get suffocated

Being modest is a virtue no doubt. However, when you excell in something, it is important that you know it, feel proud about that and stay on track to improve furthermore.

Honestly, one should appreciate and admire good things in them, and deal with DESERVED complements well too 😃 why not? It only boosts confidence- another virtue. Beating you own trumpets should be avoided, but knowing, admiring and acknowledging your goodness to yourself is great!

Thanks, but I am still disappointed, with the latter thought though!😆 I don't know much about facts, but I do know about myself, and being a human being, and emotions. Hence, my topics are always revolving around topics out of your comfort zone.😉 (I like science though, and am analytical😳)

Hmm, what if the comment makes one truely sad. Can modesty take over such that you don't realize when it is hurting you? Modesty or an issue with self?

yep, what if it turns into a constant fight? Also, this way we will never be happy with ourselves? How do you reward yourself? 😉

Hope I didn't bore you with my non-sensical post (translation- I know you were not bored, now come out and give me some compliment for my brilliant post).😉

Sorry, no compliment this time! I have just said in another post that I am not easily pleased, so .... you are gonna have to give me something really thought-provoking to get another compliment out.😳😆

PS- will wait for your day dreaming topic 😍 which will turn out to be another brilliant one I'm sure.👏

Thank you!☺️ ...coming soon, hopefully I can remember to post when I have time.😆

Another question... do men suffer from low self-esteem as much as women do? Are the numbers same? 😃

But of course they do... Most of the atrocities and crimes committed against women by men are due to low self esteem plus other psychological disorders.

I'm not aware of the exact figure but I think, in average it will even out.
