Kyunki, Ekta's flagship serial, I heard that, it began by supporting joint families and honouring Indian festivals and traditions, has evolved into a plethora of extramarital affairs. You can't deny that Ekta, through her serials, has brought certain long-forgotten customs back to the forefront, and people have been inspired by it. But why throw away everything good for the sake of immoral and unrealistic story themes?

Where are the days of Hum Log and Buniyaad, Fouji, and Circus, in which reality and fiction coexisted? Today's serials are a horrifying combination of catastrophic events in marital relationships, unrealistic fiction, and moral decline. Can we prevent its continued decline?

I TV serials made divorce an easy option to exact revenge or to give in to family pressure to keep a sensible person out of the house so that the other brainless ladies could control the roost!

Divorce is a legal process, a lengthy procedure that normally takes years to reach its conclusion, and it involves significant financial transactions. Separation is not always easy for couples, as depicted in serials.

As far as marriage is concerned, I'll always talk about Udaan. The old serial. The female lead is a humane, inspiring IPS officer and chooses in the end an honest IAS officer who differs from her in his approach but their morals are similar. At times they have arguments, mostly because of how they do things. They never show their marriage but seeing their dynamics it's not difficult to understand what kind of life they were going to live. I still love that a lot. One of my most favourite female leads and a truly underrated love story. That serial is how a serial should actually be made.

In recent times, in latest serials/ movies, we have witnessed another strange phenomenon: the villain forcefully apply sindoor on her forehead, or all of a sudden a Mangalsutra / yellow thread dropped on her head from nowhere, and when she turns her head in horror, she realises that the thread was thrown by a wicked man who wanted to marry her without her consent or knowledge!! Then, the serial makers stretch the story with her accepting him as her man and will go to his home to live with him?? Such things happen only in I TV serials!!

If someone forcefully apply sindoor on a girl's forehead, is it necessary for her to abandon everything in her life and pursue him, thinking him as her husband?

Why are these serials nurturing such a horrific cult that she must choose to follow tradition and accept him as her husband?

Another gem that has been discovered recently is a scene in which a couple gets accidentally married. Yep, you read that right!

The scene shows the guy picking up a hairbrush from the dressing table when his kurta's sleeve gets hold of some sindoor. He brushes his hair and the sindoor falls on the girl's forehead and the couple gets married accidentally.

In the background, you can hear Kumar Sanu singing 'Aaja teri suni suni maang ko mai bhar dun'.

The scene is from a show called Rishta Likhenge Hum Naya.

My grannies used to watch a show where the protagonist is a goon who tries to stop a couple eloping and getting married in a temple , the female lead in the same temple thwarts his plan and lectures him the importance of marriage and stuff and in anger he ties a yellow thread to her and says "You'll remove this thread in 5 mins and will go on with your life cause this was a forced marriage , let'ssee how long you have that thread tied to you" and leaves

Even her family members ask her to throw it away but she denies saying that it was a marriage and goes to his house and starts living over there much to his chagrin.

The best part is the female lead is an IAS aspirant who ends up becoming district collector during the course of the show

If I'm not wrong, weren't they married already? The guy got married to her when he was still a child. I might be wrong as I haven't watched this show.
