FWIW, I personally prefer keeping it India. smiley1

We've got an ocean that has our name; the subcontinent is technically named after us. It's a pretty big, historic legacy and a nice one to have IMO. Giving up that name allows others to lay claim on that legacy.

Imagine foreigners pronouncing this- you'll get plenty of "baa-rutt" or "baa-rat" type pronounciations smiley6

North Indians will write it as Bharat; South Indians will write it as Bharath.

Can you think of the IPL becoming the BPL? smiley3 (and there's already a BPL in Bangladesh)

Another reason will be the country code of the internet domain extension- .in is already very known and recognisable. .BH I think already belongs to Bahrain.

I am happy about it.

In our National Anthem, in our pledges in school.

It was all about Bharat.

It is cool

I like it that now Bharat won't just stay in 1st line of our Constitution but used to recognize us.

Ik changes would cause a lot of differences and changes, but its okay it will take time.

But this will be our identity not a name given by looting foreigners who doesn't wanna learn to speak our Country's name.

Not every one in Bharat itself speaks Hindi or calls India Bharat. Let's take the Mizo name for India or the Munda term for India and make it the official name of our republic.

If we can learn the colonisers' language and call our own country "India", they can learn Mizo or Munda, or Ho, or Dogri.

It'd cost the taxpayers the same amount of money, anyway.

While we are at it, let's change the official name for Hindi as well. The स—> ह sound change is far too westernised.
