I think the areas which border pak, ppl from there, punjab, sindhis, north to certain extent have this connection. it is but natural as they have similar roots and connections, some culture etc

the south doesnt, they can look at pak more unemotionally and unsentimentally. when ppl say our food is same etc, i am like what? south food is probably closer to south east asian or sri lankan culturally.

but as more and more time passes from independence and ppl between different indian regions mingle more with ppl traveling for jobs, intermarrying etc, example, so many north easterners, northeners, bengalis in south, the new generations will not have that. which is for the best. because in national interest this aman ki asha type sentimentality will not work.

bw has been historically built by ppl who migrated from pak (kapoors, dilip kumar) so they also have this sentimental nonsense, but new gen in India has moved on, better bw also does and relates to what they feel and stop whitewashing

100% agree on the bold.

As a north Indian, I'll be very honest, I've connected more with Pakistanis compared to even South Indians around me. And I'm not even Punjabi nor Sindhi ..

Btw I hated Aman ki Asha as a kid... but when you actually physically meet people in person.. all hatred just melts away.

I think it is natural, given the similarity in language, food etc but once that sentimentality and connections extends and creeps and overpowers national interest or decision making it is not good

one doesnt need to hate, it is not like south indians hate them but we may be indifferent which is for the best

which is why ppl watching movies from all over india, etc isactually great, it is better for integration and will work much more than any forced govt scheme

100% agree. Regional movie industries must be supported.

This. I believe indifference is the best way forward. I am a NI living in the UK. For some reason, I have never been able to relate to anyone from Pakistan.

But for me, they are just like people from any other country. No unnecessary hatred or love.

And that's how I feel it should be. No need to get triggered or shower unnecessary love just because the other person belongs to a particular country. Just like how one would consider a person from any other country

Trump just declared India and Pakistan agree to a ceasefire. Do you think it will last?
