Being intimate

What is Intimacy? i always get confused with it, is it being physical (the general thought), or is it being close to someone or is it finally finding someone you can share all what you are feeling.

i obviously believe it should be the last one but do we really get that someone in real life, do we really start believing someone to the extent we can share all our white and dark secrets... our scars and inperfections !

Told you , it is such a confusing thought to me.

The pleasures found in intimacy can have the variety from sexual to spiritual. i mean intimacy is not just the things happening behind the latched bedroom door of a couple but it is also the solace found in one's company( i feel).

And then intimacy wants the ego to take the back seat when it has to enter the life but can we really let go of our egos, actually the correct word should be Self Respect.

not all are okay with some lame jokes thrown on them, not all are okay with shitty pranks on them so in that case how they balance between Self respect and contuining the Intimacy.

well, i dont think someone especially who aren't okay with jokes and funs would be willing to continue the same path for long...the self respect will turn into ego soon and Intimacy - the one word for being close to someone will run away from life.

I have always been a loner and i run away from intimacy. so i can't really answer this.

even with my parents i never shared my thoughts

i think by myself and get along by myself

intimacy is alien to me

its okay dear and not everyone is open to their parents, we cant really say everything to them but i hope you get someone like a friend or someone you can share your thoughts...it could be someone online too but someone trustworthy.

Thank you dear for the kind words. I found some friends online but then I ran away from them and closed those accounts. I have this intimacy problem after all I guess. I get tired and then rush to close up. You're really kind though. 😊

yes, it happens but sometime you get really amazing friends whom you dont chat with but when youtalk, these are heartly talks. i hope you get someone, i really hope so...and love you dear.😊

I remember faintly the content of you post.. Wanted to write something but my brain was lazy 😆

I guess the broader usage of the word which means feeling close or allowing someone else into what you deem is 'personal space' . Personally I think it's possible to be intimate with anyone, because besides a love relationship - you can be intimate with anyone in the sense that you don't have these walls separating you and the other(parent, child, relatives, friends, co-workers). It totally depends on you and other person, just anything or anyone that feels dear or close to your heart.. You both enter a personal bubble of your own.

Intimacy is nothing but 'connecting' - which happens in moments, that can happen when two people who are across a room look at each other, or physical union, or union in intangible levels.. Just like meaning of love cannot be explained, intimacy too cannot be explained.. It is being in sync, even when you cannot dance I guess. It's not mere sharing of your personal details or thoughts, but extends way beyond that.

I guess such words cannot be explained, can only be experienced or felt or lived through.

and maybe i have gotten the answer. yes, you are so right..as i was reading this i felt what it is..it is the things i too have felt and thats why the thought have come...no more confusions. thank you for this beautiful perception. intimacy is something beyond expression (i dont know what love is but intimacy is something i too have felt).

intimacy-closeness and whatever follows. I think being physically intimate is better than being emotionally intimate. The latter screws you up enough. Its a connection.
