its soo damn annoying. first of all most of the sikhs that they show in hindi movies are fake, i mean they r wearing fake beards, and fake turbans. Which is very insulting.

secondly what is wid the sardar ji jokes, i find them very insulting and why does it always have to be a sardaar. wtf?😕 why cant it just be a mn walkin down the road or w/e

and i aggre punjabi culture is famous in the movies, but balle balle and chak de fatte rnt the only two words that we know how to say.

punjabis (especially jatts) are very serious, strict, and religious people. whoo can do alot for wat they believe in, and are not some hjokers that they r displayed as on tv.

i swear i literally want to slap a fake sardaar that they show on tv.

but i must say navjyot sidhu, i really dont know who he is. but i saw one of his interviews i think. Hes a true sikh. who has personality, and a sense of humor, which is not insulting to the sikh community.

i love the punjabi culture and am very proud of it, and i feel very offended when my culture and even religion is made fun of!

All i can say is take them for what they are just some light jokes that mean no harm or insult . Its the percepetion that makes you laugh at a joke or feel insulted !! i understand what ur saying but i dont totally agree wid it, all i have to say is its ok to joke about something but there is a limit to everything.

And bringing a smile to other people's face is prolly the sweetest thing a person can do. As u said its fun to make fun of urself, but its not fun to hear people making fun of ur BELIEFS, and laughing at urself is ok, but laughing at ur beliefs? being made fun of😕 i dont think so!! beacuse to tell u the truth if somebody cvame up to me and was making jokes about sikhs or punjabi's i would beat the carp out of them! beacuse i take it very personally and alot ofd people take it personally because who can see their beliefs or religion being made as a joke?😕

no offence to anybody, just expressing my views😛

Deepey may be i did not mention this .....but when the jokes are insulting the beliefs , thats where a line must be drawn . As long as one makes harmless 12:00 clock jokes , or sikhs being half witted , Or the Kirpan joke !! or the bengali jokes about them being lazy , or being cowards , or the "shole bole " type of jokes ( Bengalis use a lot of "O"...so my friend teases me and calls me shole bolle ...imitaing the language)......thats what i find funny and laugh and i make Sikh and Bengali jokes too !!
Not when it targets some important belief or ritual .....thats wrong !!But i fortunately have not come across people in India joking about religon in a nasty way only silly humour !!

I was browsing thru jokes section and i saw the cutest / funniest jokes about the famous Santa- Banta and Sardar jokes . I found them hilarious , but i couldn't understand why my fellow punjabis felt so upset about it !!

We Punjabi's are the liveliest people in all of India ,zindadill !! that makes me proud that we all crack the wildest jokes on ourselves . I know i do , since i am half sikh .........and i have many friends and family who love to sit over pakoras and tea and crack these jokes . I just don't get it why don't the other half of my punjabi / sikh clan can't take a joke as lightly as they are meant to be .Just my request , life is too short , learn to laugh it off !! Don't analyse these Santa- Banta joke !! They are not meant for serious debate ....just a laff !! Love you all my fellow punjabis !! Sada Punjab mahaan !!!

Sorry but Kirpan jokes r not funny coz Kirpans r one of the most important pillars of Sikhisam and I can never tolerate anyone who makes fun of our Kirpans😊 some ppl hold kirpans more dearer than their life and I just think ppl who make fun of Sikhs/Punjabi shud go get a life😡

Hey relax . I am half Sikh too . My mom is Sikh . I can stand in the middle and look at it from both persepectives , as a Sikh and as a non Sikh . What i am trying to say that by cracking these jokes, nobody is being offensive .

I just want to ask you one question if a sikh cracks the same joke ......why do you NOT feel offended .And don't tell me you do , because i've seen it ..........a sikh cracking a joke about a sikh is never taken as offensive ...........the same joke by a non - sikh , and its taken as offensive . While the intentions are exactly the same . Not to be offensive and not to hurt . Jokes a joke a joke a joke a joke !!!!!! PERIOD !! I don't mind laughing at myself at all !! Its just that i try and see that the person in front of me is not being hurtfull and delibtarely mean !! See people generally don't mean ill .......they don't try and be hurtfull .
