I know. If I remember correctly, he had said long ago that they are working on it. No idea what happened. I guess they are not bothered much about investing in upgrading/ improving things unless it's absolutely broken.

Some offenses are inchoate that they need not materialize. But yes, it all depends on the content of what was said, whether it has racial / religious / sexual bias, whether it was a public forum etc.

Muhammad, Shirdi Sai et al are/were actual people and not concepts.

Different countries enforce hate laws in different ways.

Lol, no. As I said, Mod privileges. Moderators and above in the DT can see the IP and location of members. It's meant for detecting MIDs, but also comes in handy to detect liars pretending to be Indian Hindu bashing India while IP showing that the guy is sitting in Dhaka, Bangladesh (this is an actual incident from DM).

Did that creep you out that others can see your location? 😛

By people I meant the plural.(racist, sexist etc etc comments) Singular persons who are in the public eye are another matter. People who can influence large groups are subjected to harsher criticism. Great power and all that goes with it I suppose.

FOE is a fundamental right while I believe with the exception of US , almost all countries have defined or put some restrictions on FOE, I get their reason too. Strengthening of democracy, young society, racism ..so on .But then is the reason enough to ground it as a criminal act? Thats where I draw the line. I don't approve of hate speeches and they should be challenged and discouraged, yet shouldn't be criminalised unless they are expressed in a particularly aggressive, inflammatory or sustained manner, in which case it would amount to criminal threats or harassment, where they should be crimes because they incite criminal acts or aid criminal activities.

I disagree with people like Trump , folks who go on national tv and be anti-women, homosexuals etc -to me they are the worse kinds but I still will stand by their right to speak unless they are inciting riots/aggression say like the speeches of some of the religious leaders telling the society to take arms etc or the hate speeches by politicians inciting a crowd .Basically , speech where a "threat" is made is what should be criminalized. Not a speech which is just merely an opinion .

A govt especially in democracy shouldn't have power to decide what is hate , it would change with different political centers and also different interpretations and might risk the progress of democracy.

You would have people getting arrested for criticising majority religion or calling out the religious heads basically it skews imbalance.

It is essential to define what is hate speech , taylor test definition doesn't stand "it" for me.

P.S. Public servants and Govt. officials, ministers etc are different and they have have different FOE. Because they are honour bound by the constitution of the country.

It creeped me out because i thought that mod privelege meant access to my inbox 😆
I have only mentioned this in PM to one person 😆

But other than that... I m cool...
I m in touch with many of my Geet forum friends on FB 😛 So plenty of people know anyway
