Team Boston Legal vs Team CSI
Crown Prosecutor vs Criminal Defense
[The State v. Oscar Pistorius]
Oscar Pistorius, a South African Paralympic sprinter, was recently sentenced to 5 years in Pretoria (High Court of South Africa) for shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp to death.
At the time of death, girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was in the bathroom on the toilet, with the bathroom door locked. Pistorius shot the gun four times at the locked bathroom door, hitting Reeva with three bullets. He claimed to have had suspected an intruder in the bathroom, and not his girlfriend.
Along with the charge of culpable homicide [first or second degree could not be determined] of his girlfriend, Oscar Pistorius was also charged with reckless endangerment with a firearm for three years (a prison suspended sentencing), thus resulting in the total of five years in prison. An application to appeal the conviction will be heard by the
Court on December 9.
The Criminal Defense (Team CSI) must prove that the sentencing needs to be changed to make it harsher than five years in prison, whereas the Crown Prosecutors (Team Boston Legal) must either argue that the sentencing is
c o r r e c t or that it should be reduced.

Team Suits vs Team Law & Order
Crown Prosecutor vs Criminal Defense
[Justin Bieber's Dangerous Driving, Assault Case]
On August 29, the Canadian popstar, Justin Bieber was arrested after an accident between his ATV and a minivan near his hometown, Stratford, Ontario, Canada. He was said to have been visiting his father in Ontario with then girlfriend, Selena Gomez. After the accident, according to police reports, Bieber got into a physical altercation with an occupant of the mini van.
The Ontario Court responsible of the case charged him with two criminal code offenses: dangerous driving and assault. He was released by police on a Promise To Appear on September 29, 2014. It appears that his lawyer may have been the only one to have shown to court.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision but the same can't be confirmed for the physical altercation.
Justin Bieber's string of legal troubles (past and present) could be used to argue for and against the celebrity for this case. The Criminal Defense (Team Law & Order) must argue why the singer should not be charged or argue for an average sentence (perhaps even less), whereas the Crown Prosecutor (Team Suits) must argue for a harsh sentence.
